Outline Activities

My research theme is the mathematical analysis of nonlinear partial

differential equations describing various aspects of gas motion.

Especially, my main research interest is in the mathematical analysis

of nonlinear waves arising in gas motion with dissipative mechanism.

Indeed, I have studied the asymptotic stability of shock waves,

rarefaction waves and diffusion waves for compressible Navier-Stokes

equation and the discrete velocity Boltzmann equation,

both with dissipative structure.

These two equations are different as the type of partial differential

equations but they have the fundamental similarity in their dissipative

structure, and this common structure plays an important role in their

mathematical analysis.

Similar analysis is also applied to the equations of a radiating gas

model.
