Outline Activities
1. Industrial Sociology:
We analyze the emergence and evolution of business associations in Japan and the United States from the perspective of historical and comparative sociology. As for the methodology, we rely on both quantitative and qualitative methods. Our research topics within this field also include the comparison of Japanese antimonopoly law and the U.S. antitrust regulations, and the power balance between the administration and the judiciary.
2. Quantitative Sociology:
We revaluate quantitative methods commonly used in sociology from a strict theoretical standpoint. For instance, we redefine joint F-test in multiple regression analysis as a metric function in the topological space.
3. Mathematical Sociology:
Newcomb's Problem has been mainly discussed in the field of philosophy. We formalize this problem as a meta-theoretical proposition from an axiomatic set theory, and try to lead to an empirical verification.
4. Others:
Our research interests also include an application of psychoanalysis to organizational theories, and an application of backward causality to sociology.
