Outline Activities
1. Analysis of state and movement for the material in environment are performed using the natural and artificial radionuclides as an index material. Since a radioactive material is sensitively detectable, using a radioactive material is an effective method in order to trace the behavior of a material in environment. By present, a distribution of the radioactive material in forest environment is meadured, the existence state is analyzed, and movement is predicted.
2. Radioisotope center is the common use institution using a radioactive material in Kyushu University. Radiation safety management of a radioactive material is important, radioisotope center has a role of serves as the example of the safety control in Kyushu University, and will take charge of instruction and education of safety handling. Moreover, by carrying out intensive management of the various radiation-related data, the purpose is to performe the radiation safety control of all institutes in Kyushu University efficiently.

Shinji Sugihara, Momoshima Noriyuki, OBT measurement in annual ring of the tree at Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, 5th Organically Bound Trotium (OBT) Workshop, 2016.10, 福島第一原発事故では、多量の放射性物質が環境中に放出されたが、トリチウム着目して測定を行った。環境中のトリチウムは、水として存在し可動性が高いため、樹木年輪中に存在する有機物に結合したトリチウム(OBT)を測定することにより事故当時のトリチウム濃度を予測することができる。2011年に生成した年輪中に高濃度のトリチウムが観測され、事故当時のトリチウムの環境中への拡散程度を予測できた。.
