    2003.04To ensure the safety of the chemical plant, countermeasures against abnormal situations are examined while assuming an abnormal propagation course when abnormality occurred by using a safety assessment technique such as HAZOP, FTA, FMEA and so on when the plant is designed or reviewed. Then, there are such problems that these techniques require a mount of man-hours and the results of assessments depend on the expertise of analysts. To overcome such problems, studies on the automation of HAZOP analysis have been performed, but have not given a reasonable route of fault propagation because those studies only use the qualitative information on the plant. Then, we have developed the method generating a route of fault propagation using not only qualitative but also quantitative information on the plant..
  • Prediction of Normal States of Chamical Plants using Database Model and its Application to Soft Sensors

    2000.04Prediction of Normal States of the Continuous Process with Load Fluctuations using the Database Model. Fault detection and diagnosis of a continuous process with input fluctuations such as load fluctuations can not be simply performed because of the difficulty of detecting the abnormality in the process, where normal values of state variables are uncertainly time-varying according to the load fluctuations. In this study, we have developed such method that normal values of output variables under the present load are predicted by referring the database such as a large amount of measured values accumulated in the past normal operations..
  • Failure Diagnosis and Error Estimation of Flowmeters Based on Control Limits

    2000.04Improvement of Failure Diagnosis of Flowmeters Based on Control Limits. The problem of failure detection of flowmeters was formulated as the problem of linear programming by introducing the concept of control limits given to errors in measured flowrates. This formulation made it possible to construct a simple breadth-first-search algorithm for diagnosis of faulty flowmeters. Furthremore, we have improved the algorithm for the higher accuracy of diagnostic results..
