Outline Activities
The research field of my major is semantics and pragmatics in English. Specifically, my interest lies in the issue of multiple specification and resultative constructions. One of my major works, "Coordination of Path Phrases in English" was published in English Linguistics 19.2, the journal of the English Linguistic Society of Japan. The article "On Multiple Specification and Coordination" appeared in The Mechanism of Language, a festschrift for Professor Seisaku Kawakami on the occasion of his retirement from Osaka University. In 2011, a collection of my major articles was published under the title of "Analysis of English and Japanese--Harmony Achieved by the Interaction of Meaning and Form--." In October 2011,
I organized the symposium entitled "Current Stream in Resultative Constructions Research and its Prospects" in the 64th Kyushu Chapter conference of the English Literary Society of Japan.
Regarding language education, I am responsible for the teaching of academic English as Language & Culture Basic course to undergraduate students on Ito campus.
I was also responsible for the editing of "A Passage to English", 5th edition, the textbook for English I course, as editor-in-chief. For this achievement, I was awarded the Kyushu University General Education Award.
In 2013 and 2015 academic year, I served English department representative of the faculty education board, taking charge of affairs related to English language education at kyushu University. Related to this, I was also a member of English curriculum development committee in 2013-2015.
In 2015, I was responsible for planning and organizing the series of lectures open to the public, "Aspects of Language", sponsored by the faculty. In 2016-2017, I am a member of accounting committee and research promoting committee, taking care of financial matters in the English department and serving the editor of the in-house journal, etc.

2003.04 Resultative Constructions in English vary in terms of the degree of integrity of the two subevents--causing and resultative ones. In more basic constructions, the causing relation is direct and easily observable due to its being lexically guaranteed. In other legitimate constructions, however, the relation only holds in cognitive-pragmatic terms. The major aim of the present sutudy is to investigate those factors which guarantee the integrity of the two subevents..
