Masumi Hasegawa, Kousuke Masudome, JUNJI MATSUMURA, Non-contact and non-destructive evaluation of drying stress in wood by air-coupled ultrasonic - Part I: Propagation characteristics of small clear wood specimens, 3rd International Symposium on Laser Ultrasonics and Advanced Sensing, 2013.06, Drying stress cause the surface or internal checks during wood drying process. The checks cause drop of the ornamental values of lumber. It is difficult to know the drying stress in wood nondestructively. Authors have reported that the acoustoelastic technique is the best way to know the internal stress in wood. The final objective is to establish the non-contact and non-destructive technique of drying stress in lumber by air-coupled ultrasonic. As the first step, the propagation characteristics of small clear wood specimens were investigated in this study..
