Research Activity:
My research takes place in three major areas: industrial policy for network-related industries; optimal introduction of information and communications technologies; and the efficiency of public utility firms, including optimal regulatory approaches. I am currently working maily on the first area, in particular, analyzing the optimal industrial
organization, or an optimal eco-system, of the communications sector under the broadband environment.

On October 8, 2006, the book entitled "IT Investment and Its Performance in Japan: Management Strategies and Policy Initiatives" received the 15th Book Award from the Japan Section of the Regional Science Association International.
The article entitled "An Empirical Analysis of Household Expenditures for Telephone Service: the Tokyo Case" (Jitsuzumi, T, K. Ota, and A. Oishi) received an honorable mention (June 2000) from the Japan Society of Information and Communication Research.
