1. 廣渡加奈子, 濵田 裕子, 松浦 俊治, 藤田 紋佳, 加来 恒壽, Literature review on QOL assessment of parents with children suffering from disorders, 19th EAFONS (East Asia Forum of Nursing Scholars), 2016.03, The purpose of this study was to review the studies concerning the QOL of parents having children suffering from disorders and to find ways to support QOL of these parents.
We used the Japanese online database called ICHUSHI Web (ver.5) to review papers concerning the QOL of parents having children suffering from disorders in Japan during 1977 and 2015.
Study on the parent of QOL starts from 1999, the target literatures were 30.Studies on QOL of parents having children suffering from disorders increased from 11 to 21 during 1999-2007 and 2008 and after. The disorders of children were bronchial asthma, developmental disorders, atopic dermatitis, etc. To assess parents’ QOL, past studies used each child's disorders, health-related, or self-developed questionnaires. In order to clarify the characteristics of QOL of parents with disorders, case-control study design (comparing those with and without disorders) as well as measuring QOL before and after intervening, had been carried out. Furthermore, to measure parents’ QOL separately for each disorder considering severity, new scales have been developed.
Studies on QOL of parents having children suffering from disorders has been increasing. In Japan, an increasing number of children need special attention, and burden of their parents became severe. However, there are only few QOL studies regarding the burden of parents with children suffering from serious disorders. Further studies should be undertaken to improve QOL of parents with children suffering from serious disorders.
