Outline Activities
I am currently Associate Professor at Kyushu University, Center for Japan-Egypt Cooperation in Science and Technology (E-JUST Center) where I have been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. However the most important activity is supporting the bi-national project between Japan and Egypt to establish a new university (Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology) in Alexandria, Egypt. I am a visiting professor at E-JUST where I teach and advise graduate students; also I try to promote the research collaboration between other professors at ECE (Electronic and Communication Engineering) Department as well as accepting and advise EJUST international students at Kyushu University.

Research Interests
  • My research involves aspects of high performance and low power design of computer systems and their applications like embedded systems and internet of things. Network-on-Chip enabling interconnection technologies, algorithms and implementation.

Current and Past Project
  • This research aims to develop new intelligent network power management techniques to mitigate the Dark Silicon problem for future large MPSoCs. Dark Silicon refers to regions of the chip which cannot be used due to shortages of power and/or bandwidth.
    Regarding NoC-based MPSoCs, in this research we aim to: 1) research the impact of "timing" and "synchronization" on power consumption; 2) propose new network management techniques to mitigate these effects leading to new levels of performance and/or power efficiency, e.g. by use of Network Coding in NoCs.

Professional and Outreach Activities
Regarding the bi-national project to create a new model for higher education in Egypt, through the establishment of "Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST)", I stay every spring semester since 2010 in Alexandria, Egypt to teach and advise the research of E-JUST graduate students. By promoting the exchange and research collaborations with others researchers/students in Egypt, my activities focus not only on the education of young Egyptians and Africans but also to seed future economic growth of the region which would allow for new jobs for the young and peace for all..
