Outline Activities
A goal of this research is development of energy systems toward a sustainable society. One of the powerful future energy technologies, a fuel cell, is targeted in this research, and mesoporous carbon with ordered nano-space is chosen for a model material. Within the nano-space, distinct material transfer and stability of catalysts have been observed, and details of electrochemical phenomena within nano-space will be studied. It will open up a path for fuel cell as one of the essential energy sources in the near future. In addition, environmentally safe and biological catalysts, enzymes, will be introduced to such nano-space, and mesoporous carbon-enzymes hybrid materials will be developed for catalysts and sensors.
