Ph.D. Business Administration; Management
Field of Specialization
Energy and Sustainable Social Development
Outline Activities
Our society and life are supported by a large quantity of energy resources. Energy is used for traffic, transportation, communication and everything else that provides the basis of modern society, not to mention electricity, gas and water services, which are essential in daily life and societies.
The Long-term changes in the price of the crude oil show that the price, which hovered around 2-3 US dollars in the past, soared to 12-34 dollars a barrel at the time of ‘oil-crises’ in 1970’s. This century, the global strong energy demand has triggered the rising trend of energy prices. In fact, the crude oil price has already risen by 100 dollars since the beginning of this century.
The Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 revealed the new question in the modern energy supply system and demand structure. High dependence on energy and mass consumption of our exhaustible reserves of fossil fuel still pose the problem of our sustainability and global warming.
The research project will apply the focus to the more concrete solution for creating new energy resources and jobs/industries from the regional to the sub-national level under the interdisciplinary and social development framework of KASTEC
Our approaches are as follows:
i) Exploration and networking of existing & new energy sources in the region.
ii) Research and restructuring the energy consumption.
iii) Switching the energy system by implementing new technologies such as IT, bi-directional power grid, fuel conversion and less-carbon combustion system.
iv) Creating new regional economy for internal originating development and sustainability.
v) International comparative and parallel survey in the urban area and human development.
Main R&D themes, projects
●EnergyEconomy
International case-study on the economic development and the energy demand/consumption structures.
●International Research
Quantitative analysis on the energy demands & CO2 emission induced by global trade system
●Regional Development Research on regional development and renewable energies.
●Industrial Policy
Total energy saving approaches by the efficient logistics and the recycle system in the highly energy-dependent industries i.e. the cement industries, the steel production industries.
