Outline Activities
The wood, which has sustainability of stable supply, has been used for buildings since a long time ago, and the future demand is expected. However, the behavior of wood cannot be predicted precisely, because the wood has complex characteristic, which is anisotropy, nonlinearity, inhomogeneous material and so on. In order to improving the safety of Timber structure which is composed by wood, it is necessary to keep a continuous research. For the purpose of providing reliable space, I work on basic research for wood, technological development of timber structure and human resources development of Structural design.
Research
Research Interests
  • Study on long term seismic performance of wooden houses
keyword : Wooden post and beam construction, viscoelasticity
    2016.04~2020.03.
Current and Past Project
  • Development and research of a hybrid structure using wood and steel for office buildings.
  • Development and research of a new type of rigid frame system for middle-rise wooden buildings.
  • Development and research of a new seismic isolation system for wooden houses
  • Examination of evaluation method of strength and rigidity of adhesive layered material which is a timber material forming a large cross section
  • A study aimed at evaluating the strength and stiffness of wood considering the effects of internal cracks caused by artificial drying.
  • The use of timber for public buildings is being promoted in Japan. Various efforts were made to realize medium and large scale wooden buildings from these background. However, in timber structure, the analytical environment has not been established yet compared to other structural material. The friction characteristics is one of characteristics which has not evaluated accurately yet. This study focuses on this.
  • The viscoelasticity of wood, which is one of the characteristic mechanical property of wood, has not been able to evaluate yet. This research try to construct the mechanical model of this for evaluating the seismic performance under consideration of aging.
  • This research investigates a seismic behavior of an elevator-type High-Rise Mechanical Parking System for the safety at the strong motions
  • A pile top seismic isolation system is used for constructing base-isolated buildings. In this system, seismic isolators are set on the pile’s top directly, and piles are connected with thin foundation girders or a mat slab. This research discusses the seismic performance of above systems.
