Outline Activities
[Research Interests]
My primary research interests lie in investigating the interface between Syntactic Structures and Discourse, Information Structures and Syntactic Island Effects. In particular, I have explored in the inner structures of various kinds of adverbial clauses in English and Japanese and the connection with their main clauses. Moreover, I have promoted studies on Interpretation (and Translation) in terms of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication Studies. I have also been interested in ELT Methodology and Language Development based on the application of linguistic and literary theories of Interpretation and Translation and Intercultural Communication Studies.

[Professional and Outreach Activities]
I have served as a judge at Student Interpretation Contest held in Fukuoka and Yamaguchi and given a lecture on the relationship of Interpretation and Linguistics. Also, I gave a lecture and demonstration on how to teach English to elementary school students in Japan for elementary school teachers.
