- “Germline” is the central cell lineage responsible for reproduction. By using an ideal genetic model organism, Drosophila, we are tackling to reveal the mystery of germline. During its developmental processes, germline possesses similar characteristics as multi-potent stem cells, and has a states of tissue stem cells. Since of those, germline research could contribute to understand not only for germline development, but also stem cell regulation. By investigating Drosophila germline, we try to understand the processes of cell differentiation, mechanisms of stem cell regulation and aging, in addition to reveal the mystery of germline.
