Using a general equilibrium model with an overlapping generation
structure, this study examines the impacts of a new growth strategy
of Abenomics on scal consolidation in Japan. Our simulation yielded

In June 2013, the Japanese government set a scal consolidation
target that aims to steadily decrease the debt balance as a percent-
age of GDP after 2020. This paper examines the achievability of this
target using an OLG model calibrated to the Japanese economy. Our
simulation yielded the following results. (i) It is severe to achieve the
scal consolidation target even when assuming that Abenomics has
the desired effects. (ii) Moreover, due to the accelerating population
aging, further economic and scal reform is needed in the 2020s and
2030s. (iii) Regarding further reforms, pension reform is suitable for
intergenerational equality.

In this paper, we propose a mechanization model where there are unbounded
tasks, then the economy endogenously grows permanently by the replacement of
labor with machines. The economic growth can be achieved in a manner of Harrod
neutral (labor-augmenting, labor-saving), while the aggregate production function
shows the feature of constant elasticity of substitution(CES), therefore the labor
cost share is constant in the steady state. Furthermore, considering the steady cost
of organizational change, the model can exclude strong scale effect quantitatively.
The result of this paper indicates the importance of investigation of the tasks in
production process and their mechanization for further understandings of economic
growth.
