    木星表面では、帯状構造のみならず、その色や明るさ等の変動が顕著に認められる。これらは地上望遠鏡による観測から数百年来認識されてきたが、その原因は明らかでなかった。これに対し、我々は近年、木星深部に存在する磁気的な振動を原因とする仮説を提唱した。しかし、その物理メカニズムの詳細は不明のままである。本研究では、探査機観測などによって更新された木星内部構造モデルを基に、i) どのような振動が木星深部におこり、これによって ii) 木星表面で見られる気象現象がどのように規定されるか、流体力学に基づいて明らかにする。
