火山噴出物に基づく、噴火ダイナミクスの復元 噴火現象の予測にあたって、噴火がいつ始まるのか、という問題と同じくらいに大事なものが、噴火がどのように推移し・収束するのか、という問題です。火山がもたらす噴出物は、発生から噴火に至る全ての過程におけるマグマの熱・運動履歴を記録しており、噴火推移を予測するのに重要な役割を果たすと期待されます。私は、気泡や結晶の構造・組織・組成を火山噴出物から読み取り、実験・数値計算に基づいたモデル化を行うことで、火山噴火のダイナミクスを解き明かしたいと考えています。
