教育に関しては、九州大学医学部医学科、生命科学科3年の前期に行われる病理学総論の講義、実習の一部を担当。また3年後期に行われる病理学各論の呼吸器病理実習、循環器病理、講義、実習を担当。九州大学医学部医学科5年に行われる臨床実習I(病材示説)の半分を担当。また大学院修士課程における講義(血管新生、感染症)を担当。また、看護学校における病理学、微生物学講義を担当。研究は、生活習慣病の新規治療法の開発を大きな目標とする中で、現在は血管新生分子機序の解明と糖尿病微小血管障害発症の機序の解明に力を注いでいる。
