    Unilateral scissor bite is one of the rare forms of malocclusion that is accompanied by deep bite and collapsed arch. This report describes the treatment of unilateral scissors bite improved by maxillary and mandibular posterior segmental osteotomy with orthodontic treatment. The patient was a 16-year-old woman with unilateral collapsed maxillary and mandibular arch and a scissor bite of the right buccal segment, and without facial asymmetry. At first, intrusion of right maxillary molars with implant miniscrew was planned, but failure to move. To improve, posterior segmental subapical maxillary osteotomy and mandibular corticotomy were applied without changing facial appearance. Following the surgery, the expansion of the collapsed right mandibular segment bucally using an appliance during comprehensive orthodontic treatment was planned. There was no sensory or motor paralysis. After post-surgical orthodontic treatment, her occlusion improved without alteration of facial appearance and disorder of her speech. Transverse widths at the maxillary premolars and first molars were nearly stable over the 4 years postoperative interval in our patient, and her overall long-term stability showed excellent results. To our knowledge, this case was the first case to combinate two segmental subapical osteotomies without Le Fort I and sagittal split ramous osteotomy. The results indicate that this technique is useful for unilateral expansion of distorted mandibular alveolar process and maxillary and mandibular subapical osteotomy with subsequent orthodontic treatment can be used to successfully treat unilateral scissor bite.

    Purpose: The purpose of the present study is to improve the quality of prediction of soft tissue morphology by clarifying the relationship between the amount of three-dimensional (3-D) changes of hard tissue and the morphological differences of the soft tissue chin before and after orthognathic surgery in skeletal class III malocclusion. Materials and methods: Preoperative and six-month postoperative CT was used to analyze the changes in 26 adult Japanese skeletal class III patients. The mean age was 25.5 years. Lateral cephalograms were analyzed to evaluate the initial antero-posterior jaw relationship and the changes before and after treatment. Three-D masks and bone structures were reconstructed using 3-D modelling software, and the final chin models were defined for further analysis following voxel-based registration. Correlation and linear regression analyses were performed to clarify the relationship between the movement of the soft tissue chin and the underlying bone. Results: The soft tissue chin volume and surface area significantly increased after surgery. The thickness of the chin significantly increased only at pogonion and menton after surgery. Furthermore, a statistically significant correlation between the movement of soft tissue chin and underlying bone was found. Consequently, the regression model predicted the changes in soft tissue chin from the movement of the underlying bone. Conclusion: Three-D analysis of the soft tissue chin revealed a significant change in response to surgical orthodontic treatment in skeletal class III adult patients, and soft tissue chin movement could be predicted by using 3-D CT data when planning orthognathic treatment.

    Oculo-facio-cardio-dental (OFCD) syndrome is an X-linked dominant genetic disorder characterized by congenital cataracts, facial abnormalities, congenital heart defects, and dental anomalies. The incidence of this syndrome is extremely rare, occurring in approximately 1 in 1 million people. We report the treatment course of a patient with skeletal maxillary retrognathism and mandibular prognathism who had a long canine root and prolonged retention of deciduous incisors due to OFCD syndrome.
    <br>The patient was a 15-year 5-month-old female. At birth, she had congenital cataracts and an atrial septal defect, but a diagnosis of OFCD syndrome was not made. At the age of 12, she visited our orthodontist for correction of her dental malocclusion and was diagnosed with skeletal maxillary retrognathism and mandibular prognathism. Genetic testing at the pediatric department of our hospital revealed BCOR gene abnormality and the patient was diagnosed with OFCD syndrome.
    <br>Preoperative orthodontic treatment was started at the age of 15. Orthognathic surgery was performed at the age of 18 years after the completion of preoperative orthodontic treatment. As for the surgical operation, Le Fort I osteotomy (step osteotomy) was performed in the maxilla, taking into consideration the long canine root. Regarding the preoperative orthodontic treatment, in order to preserve the remaining deciduous teeth in the mandible, we limited the vertical and anterior-posterior movement of the incisors, and intentionally formed a step between the canines and molars. A combination of mandibular anterior alveolar osteotomy and bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) was used to eliminate the step and retract the mandible. Because the anterior alveolar bone fragments were small and the SSRO’s
    incision was added posteriorly, a vertical incision was not made, and a horizontal incision was made only at the root apex equivalent to the buccal gingiva in the same area in order to maintain blood flow. As a result, the mandibular prognathism was improved and good occlusion was obtained. Three years have passed since the surgery, and there is no evidence of retroversion or bony fusion of the mandibular anterior teeth.
    <br>There have been only two reports of surgical corrective treatment for this syndrome. In the present case, we chose a technique that took into account the blood flow to the long canine root and bone fragments; however, in the future it may be necessary to choose a technique that accommodates various dental and skeletal characteristics for OFCD syndrome.

  • Association Between Reduced Posterior Occlusal Contact and Alzheimer's Disease Onset in Older Japanese Adults: Results from the LIFE Study

    Background: An association between poor oral health and cognitive decline has been reported. Most of these studies have considered the number of teeth as a criterion, only a few studies have analyzed the relationship between occlusal status and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Objective: To elucidate whether posterior occlusal contact is associated with AD, focusing on the Eichner classification, among an older population aged 65 years or older in Japan. Methods: This study used monthly claims data of National Health Insurance in Japan from April 2017 to March 2020. The outcome was newly diagnosed AD defined according to ICD-10 code G30. The number of teeth was estimated by dental code data, and occlusal contact was divided into three categories, namely A, B, and C, according to the Eichner classification. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards models were used to analyze the association between a new diagnosis of AD and the Eichner classification. Results: A total of 22,687 participants were included, 560 of whom had newly diagnosed AD during a mean follow-up period of 12.2 months. The AD participants had a lower proportion of Eichner A and a higher proportion of Eichner C. After adjusting for covariates, hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals) with Eichner B and C were 1.34 (1.01–1.77) and 1.54 (1.03–2.30), respectively. Conclusions: In older people aged ≥ 65 years old, reduced posterior occlusal contact as well as tooth loss have an impact on AD. This study emphasizes the importance of paying attention to occlusal contacts to reduce the risk of AD.

    Drug-induced taste disorders are a serious problem in an aging society. This study investigated the mechanisms underlying taste disturbances induced by diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that reduces pain and inflammation by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins by cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2). RT-PCR analyses demonstrated the expression of genes encoding arachidonic acid pathway components such as COX-1, COX-2 and prostaglandin synthases in a subset of mouse taste bud cells. Double-staining immunohistochemistry revealed that COX-1 and cytosolic prostaglandin E synthase (cPGES) were co-expressed with taste receptor type-1 member-3 (T1R3), a sweet/umami receptor component, or gustducin, a bitter/sweet/umami-related G protein, in a subset of taste bud cells. Long-term administration of diclofenac reduced the expression of genes encoding COX-1, gustducin and cPGES in mouse taste buds and suppressed both the behavioral and taste nerve responses to sweet and umami taste stimuli but not to other tastants. Furthermore, diclofenac also suppressed the responses of both mouse and human sweet taste receptors (T1R2/T1R3, expressed in HEK293 cells) to sweet taste stimuli. These results suggest that diclofenac may suppress the activation of sweet and umami taste cells acutely via a direct action on T1R2/T1R3 and chronically via inhibition of the COX/prostaglandin synthase pathway inducing down-regulated expression of sweet/umami responsive components. This dual inhibition mechanism may underlie diclofenac-induced taste alterations in humans.

    OBJECTIVES: / The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between maxillomandibular characteristics and the severity of temporomandibular disc displacement in female patients with a skeletal class III (SKIII) pattern. / METHODS: / Fifty-seven samples were included in the study. The evaluation of articular disc conditions was conducted using magnetic resonance imaging, while 25 cephalometric variables from lateral and postero-anterior (P-A) cephalograms were measured to determine their maxillomandibular characteristics. The samples were categorized into three groups based on the articular disc conditions: (1) normal disc position (NDP), (2) disc displacement with reduction (DDwR), and (3) disc displacement without reduction (DDwoR). The relationship between the maxillomandibular characteristics and disc conditions was examined through both basic statistical analysis and multivariate analysis using principal component analysis (PCA). / RESULTS: / The Kruskal–Wallis and Dunn–Bonferroni tests revealed a significant difference between the groups in terms of the deviation of mandibular characteristics observed on the P-A cephalogram. The DDwoR group exhibited significantly larger menton deviation, ramal height asymmetry index, and total mandibular length asymmetry index compared to the NDP and DDwR groups. Moreover, the PCA successfully extracted all cephalometric variables into eight principal components. Among them, only the principal component related to mandibular asymmetry was able to differentiate the SKIII samples with DDwoR from the other groups. / CONCLUSIONS: / The findings of this study highlight a significant relationship between mandibular asymmetry and the severity of disc displacement, particularly DDwoR, in female patients with a SKIII pattern.

    Lipid rafts are membrane microdomains rich in cholesterol, sphingolipids, glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored proteins (GPI-APs), and receptors. These lipid raft components are localized at the plasma membrane and are essential for signal transmission and organogenesis. However, few reports have been published on the specific effects of lipid rafts on tooth development. Using microarray and single-cell RNA sequencing methods, we found that a GPI-AP, lymphocyte antigen-6/Plaur domain-containing 1 (Lypd1), was specifically expressed in preodontoblasts. Depletion of Lypd1 in tooth germ using an ex vivo organ culture system and in mouse dental pulp (mDP) cells resulted in the inhibition of odontoblast differentiation. Activation of bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling by BMP2 treatment in mDP cells promoted odontoblast differentiation via phosphorylation of Smad1/5/8, while this BMP2-mediated odontoblast differentiation was inhibited by depletion of Lypd1. Furthermore, we created a deletion construct of the C terminus containing the omega site in LYPD1; this site is necessary for localizing GPI-APs to the plasma membrane and lipid rafts. We identified that this site is essential for odontoblast differentiation and morphological change of mDP cells. These findings demonstrated that LYPD1 is a novel marker of preodontoblasts in the developing tooth; in addition, they suggest that LYPD1 is important for tooth development and that it plays a pivotal role in odontoblast differentiation by regulating Smad1/5/8 phosphorylation through its effect as a GPI-AP in lipid rafts.

    In this study, we analyzed the clinical factors and mechanical parameters for predicting orthodontic mini-implant (OMI) failure in the mandible, which has different properties from the maxilla. A patient-specific finite element analysis was applied to 32 OMIs (6 failures and 26 successes) implanted between the mandibular second premolars and first molars used for anchorage. The peak stress and strain parameters were calculated for each sample. A logistic regression of the failure (vs. success) of OMIs on the mechanical parameters in the models was conducted. In addition, the influence of clinical factors on the mechanical parameters considered to be related to OMI failure was examined by a regression analysis. The mechanical parameter which best predicts OMI failure in the mandible was found to be a minimum principal strain of between 0.5 to 1.0 mm from the OMI surface (R2 = 0.8033). The results indicate the patient's bone density, distance between the OMIs and adjacent root, and vertical implantation angle of the OMIs are potential clinical predictors of OMI failure in the mandible.

    Recent advances in regenerative technology have made the regeneration of various organs using pluripotent stem cells possible. However, a simpler screening method for evaluating regenerated organs is required to apply this technology to clinical regenerative medicine in the future. We have developed a simple evaluation method using a mouse tooth germ culture model of organs formed by epithelial–mesenchymal interactions. In this study, we successfully established a simple method that controls tissue development in a temperature-dependent manner using a mouse tooth germ ex vivo culture model. We observed that the development of the cultured tooth germ could be delayed by low-temperature culture and resumed by the subsequent culture at 37 °C. Furthermore, the optimal temperature for the long-term preservation of tooth germ was 25 °C, a subnormothermic temperature that maintains the expression of stem cell markers. We also found that subnormothermic temperature induces the expression of cold shock proteins, such as cold-inducible RNA-binding protein, RNA-binding motif protein 3, and serine and arginine rich splicing factor 5. This study provides a simple screening method to help establish the development of regenerative tissue technology using a tooth organ culture model. Our findings may be potentially useful for making advances in the field of regenerative medicine.

The evaluation of articular disc conditions was conducted using magnetic resonance imaging, while 25 cephalometric variables from lateral and postero‑anterior (P‑A) cephalograms were measured to determine their maxillomandibular characteristics. The samples were categorized into three groups based on the articular disc conditions: (1) normal disc position (NDP), (2) disc displacement with reduction (DDwR), and (3) disc displacement without reduction (DDwoR). The relationship between the maxillomandibular characteristics and disc conditions was examined through both basic statistical analysis and multivariate analysis using principal component analysis (PCA). RESULTS: The Kruskal–Wallis and Dunn–Bonferroni tests revealed a significant difference between the groups in terms of the deviation of mandibular characteristics observed on the P‑A cephalogram. The DDwoR group exhibited significantly larger menton deviation, ramal height asymmetry index, and total mandibular length asymmetry index compared to the NDP and DDwR groups. Moreover, the PCA successfully extracted all cephalometric variables into eight principal components. Among them, only the principal component related to mandibular asymmetry was able to differentiate the SKIII samples with DDwoR from the other groups. CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this study highlight a significant relationship between mandibular asymmetry and the severity of disc displacement, particularly DDwoR, in female patients with a SKIII pattern.

    Enamel is the highly mineralized outer layer of teeth; the cells responsible for enamel formation are ameloblasts. Local hypoxia and hypoxia inducible factor (HIF) in embryonic tissues are important to promote normal organogenesis. However, hypoxic state in tooth germs and the roles of HIF in ameloblast differentiation have not been understood. The aim of this study is to clarify the role of HIF in ameloblast differentiation during tooth germ development. We found that tooth germs were under hypoxia and HIF-1α and HIF-2α were expressed in tooth germs in embryonic mice. Then, we used HIF inhibitors to evaluate the function of HIF during tooth germ development. The HIF-2α inhibitor significantly decreased the size of tooth germs in organ culture, while the HIF-1α inhibitor did not apparently affect the size of tooth germs. The HIF-2α inhibitor enhanced the expression of amelogenin, a marker of ameloblast differentiation, in the tooth germs in organ culture and rat dental epithelial SF2 cells. Moreover, we found that the HIF-2α inhibitor-stimulating amelogenin expression was regulated by hes-related family basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor with YRPW motif 2(Hey2) in SF2 cells. These findings suggest that the HIF-2α–Hey2 axis plays an important role in ameloblast differentiation during tooth germ development.

    Introduction: We evaluated the effects of secondary bone grafting (SBG) on oral health–related and generic health–related quality of life (OHRQOL and HRQOL, respectively) in preadolescent orthodontic patients with alveolar bone defects. Methods: We divided 101 orthodontic patients aged 8-10 years into 3 groups: 39 general orthodontic patients, 18 patients with orofacial clefts who did not require SBG, and 44 patients with alveolar defects who required SBG using particulate cancellous bone and marrow obtained from the iliac crest. The participants completed the self-report Child Perceptions Questionnaire (CPQ) and Paediatric Quality of Life Inventory (version 4.0) for OHRQOL and HRQOL, respectively, and their scores were assessed. The quality of life (QOL) of patients who required SBG was examined before, 1 month, and 6 months after SBG. The relationships between OHRQOL or HRQOL and potential patient factors were also evaluated. Results: Physical HRQOL subscale scores worsened 1 month after SBG, whereas the total OHRQOL and HRQOL scores before and after SBG showed no significant changes. OHRQOL and HRQOL showed no significant differences among the 3 groups before SBG. The presence of oronasal fistula was associated with poorer OHRQOL in patients with cleft lip and/or palate. Conclusions: SBG and orthodontic treatment had a relatively small impact on the QOL of the preadolescent children in this study. Understanding the influence of SBG and patient factors on QOL would enable better treatment and care for these patients.

    Development of chemotherapy has led to a high survival rate of cancer patients; however, the severe side effects of anticancer drugs, including organ hypoplasia, persist. To assume the side effect of anticancer drugs, we established a new ex vivo screening model and described a method for suppressing side effects. Cyclophosphamide (CPA) is a commonly used anticancer drug and causes severe side effects in developing organs with intensive proliferation, including the teeth and hair. Using the organ culture model, we found that treatment with CPA disturbed the growth of tooth germs by inducing DNA damage, apoptosis and suppressing cellular proliferation and differentiation. Furthermore, low temperature suppressed CPA-mediated inhibition of organ development. Our ex vivo and in vitro analysis revealed that low temperature impeded Rb phosphorylation and caused cell cycle arrest at the G1 phase during CPA treatment. This can prevent the CPA-mediated cell damage of DNA replication caused by the cross-linking reaction of CPA. Our findings suggest that the side effects of anticancer drugs on organ development can be avoided by maintaining the internal environment under low temperature.

    This study aimed to evaluate the performance of geometric morphometry (GM) to assess the changes in facial soft tissue after orthognathic surgery. Subjects were 27 patients (skeletal class III) who underwent bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy and 27 volunteers as a control group. Computed tomography images of each patient were obtained before surgery (T0) and 6 months after surgery (T1). Computed tomography images of 27 volunteers (skeletal class I) were also obtained as a control group. Using a three-dimensional (3D) modeling software, 3D models were created and exported to a 3D surface analyzing software for geometric morphometry and principal component (PC) analysis. Significant differences in facial soft tissue were found in the first and second of 15 PC. The first PC represented variation in the lower facial height, and the second PC represented variation in the anterior-posterior position of the chin. Comparing the pre-and post-operative images, they illustrated that lower facial height was decreased, and the chin and lower lip moved posteriorly. Geometric morphometry showed to be a successful tool to isolate surgeryrelated changes from interindividual morphological variations.

    Generally, a canted occlusal plane results in esthetic problems, such as an asymmetric mandible with midline deviation, and functional problems, such as temporomandibular disorder (TMD). For many years, orthognathic surgery has been used to level a canted occlusal plane. However, similar effects might be achieved by intruding the posterior teeth using a miniscrew. This case report describes a patient with a canted occlusal plane, mandibular deviation, shifted dental midlines, and TMD treated with an edgewise appliance using miniscrews as anchorage. Vertical control of posterior teeth with miniscrews enabled flattening of the canted occlusal plane. Dental midlines were coincided with the midfacial line, thereby improving smile symmetry. During 4 years of retention, the patient maintained ideal occlusion. Furthermore, TMD symptoms disappeared, and significant improvements in stomatognathic functions were observed compared with those at pretreatment. These results suggest that miniscrews can be used to improve canted occlusal plane and stomatognathic malfunctions.

    Amelogenesis consists of secretory, transition, maturation, and post-maturation stages, and the morphological changes of ameloblasts at each stage are closely related to their function. p130 Crk-associated substrate (Cas) is a scaffold protein that modulates essential cellular processes, including cell adhesion, cytoskeletal changes, and polarization. The expression of p130Cas was observed from the secretory stage to the maturation stage in ameloblasts. Epithelial cell-specific p130Cas-deficient (p130CasΔepi-) mice exhibited enamel hypomineralization with chalk-like white mandibular incisors in young mice and attrition in aged mouse molars. A micro-computed tomography analysis and Vickers micro-hardness testing showed thinner enamel, lower enamel mineral density and hardness in p130CasΔepi- mice in comparison to p130Casflox/flox mice. Scanning electron microscopy, and an energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy analysis indicated the disturbance of the enamel rod structure and lower Ca and P contents in p130CasΔepi- mice, respectively. The disorganized arrangement of ameloblasts, especially in the maturation stage, was observed in p130CasΔepi- mice. Furthermore, expression levels of enamel matrix proteins, such as amelogenin and ameloblastin in the secretory stage, and functional markers, such as alkaline phosphatase and iron accumulation, and Na+/Ca2++K+-exchanger in the maturation stage were reduced in p130CasΔepi- mice. These findings suggest that p130Cas plays important roles in amelogenesis (197 words).

    Congenital absence of teeth (hypodontia) is one of the developmental abnormalities frequently seen in the craniofacial region. Non-syndromic hypodontia includes different phenotypes ranging from hypodontia of one tooth excluding third molars to oligodontia and anodontia. We report a case of familial oligodontia with anterior-posterior and vertical undergrowth of the maxilla. The patient was a male with the chief complaint of malocclusion and mandibular protrusion, and was aged 15 years and 3 months when the active treatment started. The patient had a facial profile with midfacial concavity and short face. Cephalometric analysis showed severe skeletal class Ⅲ due to the retruded maxilla with short vertical height (ANB angle, −7.9°). Intraoral examination revealed anterior crossbite and deep bite. The maxillary second premolars, first molars, and second molars were congenitally missing bilaterally. We planned anterior-inferior movement of the maxilla using a pair of internal distractors and set-back of the mandible to improve skeletal disharmony via surgical orthodontics, followed by wearing a partial denture to restore the occlusion of missing teeth. After preoperative orthodontic treatment, Le Fort І osteotomy and fixation of internal distractors were performed. Following a one-week consolidation period, maxillary distraction osteogenesis was performed for 10 days at the rate of 1mm per day. The direction and location of installation of the distractors were simulated in advance on a three-dimensional model and accurately positioned on the maxilla; however, the direction of the distractors changed posteriorly possibly due to the occlusal force during the distraction osteogenesis. Since the maxillary advancement was insufficient, the maxillary position was modified concomitant with the mandibular set-back during the secondary surgery, resulting in the desirable facial profile and an acceptable occlusion. The bone-borne distractor seems to be suitable for patients with oligodontia for preventing the adverse movement of teeth. However, since the available space and the direction of the internal distractor are limited, careful consideration for the direction and fixation of the distractor and monitoring of the device’s deformation due to the patient’s occlusal force are necessary.

    本研究では、顎顔面領域の発生におけるエピジェネティック制御機構に着目し、顎顔面領域におけるmiRNA-ヒストン修飾相互作用による形態制御メカニズムの解明を目指す。胎生期マウス第一鰓弓の下顎隆起を用いた高密度培養および器官培養において、HDAC阻害下において抽出したtotal RNAを用いたmiRNAマイクロアレイ解析により、HDACが制御するmiRNAを同定する。候補となったmiRNAを高密度培養および器官培養へ導入することにより、miRNAとHDACの相互作用による胎生期顎顔面形態形成の発現制御メカニズムを明らかにする。

    下顎頭軟骨のメカニカルストレス応答は、下顎の正常な成長、矯正歯科治療による下顎の成長制御、および、進行性下顎頭吸収の発症に関わる重要な生物学的プロセスである。申請者らは最近、miRNA の網羅的解析を行い、メカニカルストレス応答性を有する下顎頭軟骨特異的 mechanosensitive miRNA の同定に成功した。これらの成長板軟骨と比較しながら、mechanosensitive miRNA を基軸とした下顎頭軟骨に特有のメカニカルストレス応答の分子メカニズムの解明し、正常な口腔顎顔面領域の成長発育に関連する分子生物学的知識の発展と、矯正歯科治療による最適な下顎成長誘導法の確立を目指す。

    胎生期ラットおよびマウスの第一鰓弓の下顎隆起、第二鰓弓を用いて、器官培養法、高密度培養法、単層培養法においてHAT阻害剤を添加した培地を用いて、細胞増殖と軟骨分化への影響を検討する。続いて、HATのsiRNAを用いて局所的にノックダウンを行い、HATが下顎隆起や第二鰓弓の形態形成に及ぼす影響を組織学的に検討する。さらに、下顎の形態形成を時間的・空間的に制御する、各種サイトカインや転写因子の遺伝子発現の変化を検討し、ChIP解析を用いた転写制御機構解析を行う。

    The purpose of the present study is to clarify the function of mechanosensitive microRNA (miRNA) during chondrogenesis derived from mandibular condyle. Firstly, 5 miRNAs were specified by screening. By usinig chondrocytes derived from mandibular condylar cartilage (MCC) and cartilaginous cell line, ATDC5 cells, we analyzed the expression patterns of miR-134, which is one of the specified miRNA. miR-134 was highly expressed in embryonic MCC. We transfected miR-134 to investigate the function of miR-134 during chondrogenesis in MCC derived stem cells and ATDC5 cells. We have found that miR-134 inhibited the proliferation, differentiation and migration of chondrogenic cells derived from MCC and ATDC5 in culture.

    高齢者の不顕性誤嚥の詳細について明らかにするために、口腔や咽頭部からの細菌混入を避けられるマイクロサンプリングプローブを用いて、気管支液のサンプリングを行い、試料中の細菌量および構成を培養ならびに分子生物学的手法によって明らかにし、咳・嚥下反射の低下程度と比較した。同時に、唾液の細菌叢解析を行い、口腔内細菌との関連性を検討した。その結果、嚥下反射が低下した高齢者では、口腔細菌がより誤嚥されている可能性が示唆された。
