    戦後の価格・所得政策を総括し、計量経済分析の観点から米の価格・所得政策をモデル化した。具体的には、わが国の米の価格・所得政策が市場原理を導入・強化し、米価の下落基調を容認した政策であること、及び、新基本計画に基づく生産調整の廃止が軟着陸しないならば、米の価格・所得政策モデルが市場原理をさらに強化し、米価の急落まで容認する方向へ今後変化する可能性が高いことを明らかにした。

    環太平洋経済連携協定（TPP）がわが国の稲作に与える影響とわが国の対応策について、講演を行った。貿易シミュレーション分析の結果をもとに、TPPがわが国の稲作に大打撃を与えること、及び、わが国の稲作を持続させるためには、一定程度の関税と稲作経営の規模拡大、直接支払いのポリシーミックスが重要であることを明らかにした。

    国際農産物市場の理論研究及び実証研究について展望報告を行い、両研究において、不完全競争を前提にすることが不可欠であることを明らかにした。理論研究においては、誤った完全競争の仮定が貿易自由化の影響を過大に評価してしまうこと、及び、国際市場の不完全競争度の高まりが貿易自由化の利益を相殺してしまうことを明らかにした。一方、実証研究においては、現在の国際農産物市場が不完全競争的であること、及び、その不完全競争度はウルグアイ・ラウンド農業合意以降、高まっていることを明らかにした。
