In addition, he is also a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and sits on the ISO Technical Committees on Sustainable Finance (TC 322) and Environmental Management (TC 207). Furthermore, he belonged to the Technical Working Groups of the Climate Disclosure Standards Board (CDSB), the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI), and the Green Finance Network Japan (GFNJ).

Prof. Dr. Kim Schumacher is originally from Luxembourg and prior to joining Kyushu University in August 2022, he was a Lecturer and Research Fellow in Sustainable Finance and ESG at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. In addition, he is an Honorary Research Associate at the University of Oxford. Past work included consulting activities for the Luxembourg Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development and research as a postdoctoral researcher in sustainable finance at the University of Oxford. He also had adjunct lecturer positions at the University of Luxembourg and the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan.

研究テーマ：ESGリスクとインパクトの評価基準、持続可能な金融政策、持続可能性報告の枠組み、ESGデータに関連するグリーンウォッシュおよびカーボンウォッシュ活動、グリーンボンド、自然資本、生物多様性と生態系サービス、生物多様性とカーボンオフセット、再生可能エネルギープロジェクト開発、TCFD/TNFD開示に焦点を当てた研究を行っています。これらの研究活動はすべて、企業や国が気候変動から受ける重大なリスクは何か、また、環境・社会・ガバナンス（ESG）要素を適切に統合することによって、持続可能性に真のプラスの影響を与えるにはどうすればよいかを明らかにすることを目的としています。これには、ステークホルダーレベルの持続可能性関連のリスクと影響の両方を見るダブルマテリアリティの概念の探求も含まれます。つまり、企業、金融機関、政府は、投資判断の際に環境、生物多様性、気候、SDGsへの影響も考慮する必要があるのです。
