I was in charge of the field of polymer science, particularly in the development and study of polymers with gas barrier properties and improved melt moldability. I have included the development of ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymers (EVOH) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) based products.These materials are known for the excellent gas barrier performance, which makes them suitable for various applications, including packaging materials that require a high level of protection against oxygen permeation. During my tenure at the Central Research Institute of Nippon Synthetic Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., I worked on improving the gas barrier performance and melt moldability of EVOH and PVA, as well as developing new types of these polymers. I also explored the use of PVA-based suspending agents for vinyl chloride suspension polymerization and emulsion polymerization dispersants for vinyl acetate and acrylics. I think my extensive patent portfolio (number of domestic and international patent applications: 249), with a significant number of domestic and international patent applications reflects my active role in polymer research and development.
