日本語初級レベルの外国人が増えている。彼らの顔の表情から感情の推定ができれば、コミュニケーションしやすくなるが、現状ではそれを支援するシステムも仕組みも存在しない。
そこで既存の欧米系だけではなく幅広い人種の感情が推定できるAI表情解析システムを開発する。それを活用したコミュニケーション支援方法の設計を通じて、国内外で起きている「日本語初級レベルの外国人とのコミュニケーション不全」問題の解決を目指す。
本研究では、顔の特徴点と顔面動作とを紐づけた顔画像のAIビッグデータを組み込んだAI表情解析システムを開発し、外国人向けの日本語授業での使用を通してコミュニケーション支援ができるかを検証する。 -

【大学院における日本語教師養成および研究指導】
1.日本語教育学に関する理論と実践の指導
2025年10月より、日本語教師を目指す大学院生を対象に、日本語教育学の知識・理論の教授と、教壇に立つための模擬授業演習を実施。演習では学内の外国籍研究者を模擬学生として招くなど、実践的な日本語習得支援の機会を設けている。
2.質的研究法（TEA等）を用いた修士研究支援
2025年10月より、大学院生向けの質的研究法に関する授業を担当。日本語教育分野で多用されるTEA（複線径路等至性アプローチ）をはじめとする分析手法を指導し、院生の修士研究・論文執筆を支援している。

Educational support for Thai higher education institutions:
Providing e-learning materials for learning Japanese culture to universities in Thailand offering Japanese language majors (at interested institutions), contributing to the development of Japanese language and culture education in Thailand.
Providing materials to a national platform:
Providing Japanese culture learning courses to "Thai MOOC," a national online learning platform operated by the Thai Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, broadly expanding support for lifelong learning in Thailand.
Invited lectures at international symposiums, etc. (2025):
Invited lectures will be given at the symposium hosted by the "Japan-Thailand Research Network Thailand" (November) and the annual seminar of the "Japanese Language and Culture Teachers Association of Thailand" (December), promoting the dissemination of research results and academic exchange.
