Outline Activities
My main reserach fields are private international law and international heritage law. Recent research includes international enforcement of intellectual property right and litigation and economic analysis of conflict of laws. I served also as a member of experts group to draft Convention for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage and of Japanese Delegation and Convention for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expression. In 2011, I was elected as a member of Executive Committee of ICOMOS in 2011, as a vice president in 2014 and then as its president in 2017. I am in charge of the WH business of ICOMOS, including the evaluation of nomination files for World Cultural Heritage. I deal with issues on the control of illicit trafic of cultural property as well. I have been assisting Bhutanese Government to draft heritage law.
As for teaching activities, I hold seminar and lecture on Private International law and IP as well as International Heritage Law for LL.M course (in English), tutorial seminar for graduate students.

Educational Activities
As for teaching activities, I hold seminar and lecture on Private International Law, Intellectual Property and Private International Law for LL.M course (in English), applying Socratic method, and tutorial seminar for graduate students.

- 2018.04, Reinventing in Japan project run by myself got the highest result "S" in its evaluation system..
- 2017.09, The Reinventing Japan Project ended with a big success. However thanks to the partnership with Ateneo de Manila Law School, a new project is launched where students from Kyushu Univ. will be sent there and take several courses together with local students. .
- 2013.08, I was invited by the Hague Academy of International Law and gave special lectures on "Efficiency in Private International Law"..
- 2013.10, I drafted the main concept of a project for the fiscal year 11/12"A Spiral Model of Collaborative Education: Balancing Global and Local Values through Legal Mind" for the Re-inventing Project of MEXT. Our aplication was successful. As its results, we received more than 20 students from four partner universities。I organized workshops in May and July 2013. In September 2013, I took 10 students from Kyushu University to Thailand and Singapore, and held several seminars on cultural heritage. Also in May 2014, we accepted students from Chulalongkorn University and Ateneo de Manila University..
- 2013.09, I am responsible for a training session in Bangkok and Fukuoka for young Thai judges that I arrange with the Thai Judiciary. .
