Explanations are given about various standard items concerning water quality. These are the decision-making standards that apply when measures must be taken. In addition, methods to reduce the pollution burden of water, as well as methods to encourage natural purification, are introduced. The water monitoring condition, current condition of water quality, and improvement in water quality in the past 40 years are shown.
