Outline Activities
After achieving master degree of graduate school of Kyushu University, the research on cereal crops in Fukuoka Agricultural Experimental Station had been my major work until Oct., 1993. Major theme of the research was to analyze effects of environmental conditions on palatability of rice cultivated in northern Kyushu. The works very contributed to establishment of advanced cultivation skills for rice with good palatability, and to raising the original cultivar 'Yume Tsukushi', which is now known as one of the most leading cultivars in northern Kyushu.

After that, I was adopted as an assistant professor of University Farm of Kyushu University, and moved to laboratory of Horticultural Science on Dec., 2001. My chief interest is paid to evolutional and ecological backgrounds on biodiversity of horticultural resources. Biological interaction including horticultural resources based on conservation ecology has been added to my major researches. The major themes of my researches are as follows:

1) Genetic and ecological mechanisms in evolution of plant life history strategy, with special reference to evolution of dormancy and resource allocation pattern.
2) Mechanisms and adaptive significance of genetic diversification in clonal plants
3) Evolutionary significance and conservational issue of natural hybridization events in plants
4) Conservation of pollination mutualisms using horticultural plants and development of sustainable horticultural production systems harmonized with natural biological interaction.

My educational and social activities have been mainly concentrated into extension lectures stressing the importance of agricultural resource conservation, sustainable agriculture, food issues and life ethics. Applied and practical diet education and conservation works with university's students and citizens in local areas is also my major of educational and social activities. A unique liberal art program for providing the opportunities of self-cook for students is a recent topic of my undergraduate education.

From Feb. 2014, I engaged in integrative team of Graduate Education and Research Training Program in Decision Science for a Sustainable Society.
