Outline Activities
Acting as a chief of medical team in next generation Internet project between Korea-Japan and chairperson of Medical Working Group in Asia-Pacific Advanced Network, transmission of live surgery or teleconference of various medical fields were major activities. Telemedicine Development Center of Asia was formally established in Kyushu University Hospital in October 2008, and I was appointed as director to lead the activities. In January 2016, I was appointed as professor and chairman of newly established International Medical Department and as director of Overseas Exchange Center. In October 2020, as Vice President of Kyushu University and Executive Research Director of Kyushu University Institute for Asian and Oceanian Studies Project, I keep leading international activities in whole campus.

- This project is maily to foster engineers who can support remote medical education programs. It includes a-week-long on-the-job training programs, train-the-trainer programs, domestic workshops, and Asia Telemedicine Symposium.
- The diagnosis of early gastric cancer is of utmost importance to treat the patient for cure. This project is aimed to estalish the continuous medical education system economically and effectively between areas on the other side of the earth.
- Collaborations between doctors and engineers for both international and domestic expansion
- Continuous remote medical education for the diagnosis of early gastric cancer in Asia
- The aim is to establish an advanced telemedicine system around Asia-Pacific region, which enables tranmission of high-quality medical moving images with mutual discussion and low cost. Standardization of medical knowledge and skills to provide patients with the best healthcare is our ultimate goal.
