Outline Activities
1)Research
Effectiveness of design is emphasized today as a management resource along with human, material and monetary resources as well as information and time. However, design involves various visible and invisible factors in a complex fashion, making it difficult, if not impossible, to arrive at desirable solutions. My study encompasses ideal processes for design per se and design development by research and analysis of the relations of objects and producers, objects and users, and objects, producers and users based on the situation in society as a background.
Presently, I am conducting some studies focused on improving 'QOL' and related to “Service”, “Elderly people”, and “Energy” based on the change of situation regarding 'objects and producers', 'users', and 'society'.
2)Education
I have taught Design Theory (Undergraduate Programs), Industrial Design Fundamental Practice B (Undergraduate Programs), Theory and Practice of Design System (Undergraduate Programs), Practice of Industrial Design (Undergraduate Programs), Senior Project I/II (Undergraduate Programs), Design Management (Graduate Programs), Strategic Architect Project A/B (Graduate Programs), Cognitive Theory of KANSEI Value (Graduate Programs).
3)Social Activities
I am engaged in design lectures for high school students in open lectures.
As international collaborative activities, I got a sabbatical leave in 2012 fiscal year, stayed in IIT Institute of Design in the USA as a visiting scholar for about 1 year. During the time, I also visited Parsons The New School for Design (New York), Pratt Institute (New York), Arizona States University (Phoenix), Art Center College of Design (Los Angeles) and California College of the Arts (San Francisco) in the USA, and Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Port Alegre) in Brazil. I exchanged information of education and research, and promoted the personnel exchange. In addition, I utilized the overseas dispatch system of the Faculty of Design and stayed in Parsons The New School for Design (New York) for around four months in 2015 fiscal year. I exchanged information of education and research, promoted the personnel exchange.
