教育活動 九州大学においては2010年より人間環境学府都市・建築学部門国際コースの英語による 「Advanced theory of habitat design,Advanced theory of habitat analysis」 「Theory of sustainable architecture and urbanism」 を担当している。また演習科目として　「Seminar in Advanced theory of habitat design」「Seminar in Advanced theory of habitat analysis」「Urban design studio」「海外と国内Sustainable design camp」 担当している。 研究活動 1. 南アジアおよび東南アジアの都市における都市のスプロール化とそのダイナミクスの研究。南アジアおよび東南アジアの都市化率はまだ低いですが、今後20年で前例のない都市人口の成長が予想されています。既に都市化が進んだ都市を観察すると、都市化と同時に経済成長も経験しており、都市化と経済発展の間には強い関係性が確立されています。しかし、これらの都市のスプロール化に関する詳細な理解はまだ不十分です。近年、多くのアジア諸国が分権化と経済の自由化を推進しています。分権化を達成した都市では、土地供給の増加、雇用創出、経済活動の変化が見られる傾向があります。都市のスプロール化を検討することは、これらの変化を理解する上で有益です。したがって、本研究では、南アジアおよび東南アジアの6つの都市を対象に、都市スケールや都市ガバナンスシステムの違いを考慮し、都市のスプロール化とそのダイナミクスを定量的に分析することを目指しています。 2. 都市計画支援ツールの開発に関する研究。 3. 交通中心開発と都市の用地利用効率に関する研究。 4. 都市地域の大気品質改善政策の評価。

    The 15-minute Community Life Circle (15 min-CLC) concept is an urban planning approach that aims to provide various daily services for citizens within a short distance. It has been widely adopted in China, especially in large cities. However, there is a lack of research on how to apply the 15 min-CLC concept in second-tier cities, which have high population densities and lower quality of life. This study chose Jinan City as a case study to explore the underdeveloped areas and facilities of 15 min-CLCs in rapidly developing and medium-size cities, called second-tier cities. First, it analyzed the distribution of facilities and residential POIs in old communities, new communities, and the whole city, to find out which type of facilities are missing at the community level. Second, it examined the relationship between facilities and population in each 15 min-CLC by using the Facility to Population Ratio (FPR), to evaluate the sufficiency of facilities to meet the daily needs of residents. Through the analysis of facility distribution and Facility Population Ratio, our study found that old communities have all the required facility types within each 15 min-CLC, but they do not have enough number of facilities to support the population. At the same time, identified the underdeveloped regions and provided specific development directions for each 15 min-CLC. The FPR methodology developed in this study can be used to evaluate whether the existing facilities can meet the daily needs of residents in a certain region.

    On the subject of urban sprawl in recent Egypt, this research takes Giza governorate the western part of Greater Cairo Metropolitan Region (GCMR) as a case and puts forward that urban sprawl can be estimated from spatial disposition, sprawl efficacy and outer influences; and then evolves a geo-spatial indicators system for quantifying sprawl. Various data sources were selected, including land use maps, digitized map of the highways and town centers, and population statistical data, etc. The results demonstrated that Building land in Cairo has kept quick growing with considerable amount of low efficacy and dysfunctional spatial disposition

    The housing issue in Greater Cairo metropolitan region (GCMR)'s has continued despite of the numerous policies that the government has introduced during the last 70 years. This research discusses housing policies changes and their effects on the housing issue in GCMR. Primary data were derived through questionnaire survey and secondary data from national censuses. The results find that the change in the general state policies did success in attracting more investments for public housing of low-income residents but failed to end the phenomenon of vacant housing or attract slums residents to new urban centers (NUC).

    The purpose of this paper is to develop a land use planning support tool (LU-PST) in developing countries. LU-PST consists of an urban growth model and a land use zoning map support tool. The urban growth model is a Cellular Automata (CA) model, and population density by grid cell is calculated. The purpose of the land use zoning map support tool is to create zoning maps including residential, commercial, industrial and preservation zones. This tool used an AHP method in order to consider criterion for judgment of users. In order to develop the LU-PST, these two models were incorporated into ArcGIS (ESRI). It is possible for this tool to execute two tasks. One is for the land use zoning considered with urban growth trend. And the other is for the urban growth calculation based on a land use plan. The usefulness of LU-PST was discussed by analyzing the results of application to the Colombo Urban Area in Sri Lanka and considering comments about this tool from urban planners.

    <p>This study is aimed to analyze the concentration and classification of high-tech industries in China National High-Tech Industrial Development Zones. Following are the results of the spatial autocorrelations analysis based on the POI data of Gaode Map. Changes in enterprise density were observed at distances of 3 km and 9 km from the boundaries of the core zones in the 10 selected academic cities and the causes are analyzed. The most common agglomeration patterns and characteristics of concentration in each high-tech industry are identified. And the agglomeration tendency strength of various 7 industries is determined.</p>

    Improvement in livability is a vital requirement of the TOD development concept. The purposes of this research are to study the livability condition of TODs by evaluating whether the daily needs of residents of all ages within the existing TODs in Hefei City can be met, identifying the TODs that need further development and proposing appropriate strategies to help residents within different TODs access equal resources. Hefei City, as a representative second-tier Chinese city developing TODs, was used as a case study. Results of this research show only a small portion of residents within TODs can reach elderly care facilities. The higher livability of TODs is mainly concentrated in well-developed areas such as new and old city centers and traffic hubs.

    <p>本研究は、都市再生整備地区を指定した34半島地域を対象として、事業の取り組みの傾向と目標の達成要因を明らかにすることを目的としている。1)半島地域における132の都市再生整備地区を観光地区、一般地区、中心市街地地区に3分類し、全国の指定状況との比較を通して各地区の特徴を示し、2) 目標を達成した指標数の割合をみると、半島地域の観光地区では賑わいの創出、一般地区では良好な住環境の創出、中心市街地地区では交通に関する指標の割合が高いこと、3)糸島半島、佐賀関半島を取り上げ、観光地区では観光・景観整備企業の立地支援の整備事業、中心市街地地区と一般地区では道路、公園・河川などの整備事業が目標達成の主な要因となっており、34半島地域全体と同じ傾向のあることを示した。</p>

    In Chinese universities, the current situation and protection level of historical landscapes which are composed of modern architectures are different. According to the related data, the historical landscapes of university can be classified into four types: 1) fewer buildings--small scale type; 2) traditional buildings-small scale type; 3) mixed buildings-large scale type; 4) multiple buildings-middle scale type. Thus characteristics of historical landscapes can be identified clearly, which provide references for future preservation and utilization.

    This research will try to measure the urban sprawl quantitatively in selected South and Southeast Asia cities and try to understand pattern and dynamics of urban sprawl. Next the sprawl will be studied usin
    relationship of sprawl and different planning practices and economic environments.
    Urban sprawl will be measured for 6 South and Southeast Asian cities selected based on economic development. The measurement will be done for fragmentation, activity space, decentralization, density and urban growth using land use data gathered from satellite images and demographic and other land use data sources with the application of series metrics and geospatial calculations. This information will be used to analyze spatial and temporal dynamics of urban sprawl and its relationship to planning practice.

    This research will try to measure the urban sprawl quantitatively in selected South and Southeast Asia cities and try to understand pattern and dynamics of urban sprawl. Next the sprawl will be studied usin
    relationship of sprawl and different planning practices and economic environments.
    Urban sprawl will be measured for 6 South and Southeast Asian cities selected based on economic development. The measurement will be done for fragmentation, activity space, decentralization, density and urban growth using land use data gathered from satellite images and demographic and other land use data sources with the application of series metrics and geospatial calculations. This information will be used to analyze spatial and temporal dynamics of urban sprawl and its relationship to planning practice.

社会貢献・国際連携活動概要

  • 私は九州大学の准教授としての教育活動と、学術団体や国際学生交流プログラムのさまざまな委員会のメンバーとしての活動に関連しています。私は2010年3月に九州大学人間環境学研究院の新設された国際修士・博士課程に准教授として参加しました。このプログラムでの私の主な役割は、アジアの大学でプログラムを宣伝し、教育活動に加えてプログラムを管理することです。この期間中、海外の大学から学者を招待して講義シリーズを開催することで、プログラムに必要な国際的な関係の基盤を築きました。

    九州大学の建築・都市計画学科は、ヨーロッパ、太平洋、韓国、日本の12のパートナー大学と学生交流プログラムのパートナーです。私は九州大学を代表するこのプログラムの組織委員会で連続して働いてきました。これらの機会を利用して、九州大学とその研究機会を海外の大学に紹介しました。九州大学の建築・都市計画学科は、国際プログラムで九州大学箱崎キャンパスと外国の大学の両方でいくつかの都市デザインワークショップを開催しています。これらのプログラムは、私がメンバーとして参加している教授チームによって組織され、実施されています。2017年4月、九州大学建築・都市計画学科は、日本、中国、韓国が共同で支援するキャンパスアジアプロジェクトの一環として、国際的な大学院教育プログラムを開始しました。現在、私はそのプロジェクトで将来の学生交流とダブルディグリープログラムを計画する国際作業委員会のメンバーです。2023年には、博士課程の学生向けに釜山国立大学とのJoint Degree Program プログラムを成功裏に開始しました。

    社会貢献

    私の社会貢献は、主に学術団体や政府機関が主催する活動に基づいています。アジアの都市景観デザインのベストプラクティスを認識するために毎年開催されるアジアタウンスケープ賞は、アジアタウンスケープデザイン協会、アジアハビタット協会、UN-HABITAT福岡事務所によって主催されています。私は受賞選考委員会の審査員として働いてきました。近年、日本、中国、韓国、南アジア、東南アジアを含む幅広いアジア諸国からこの賞への推薦がありました。
