Dr. Watanabe is involved in studies of the solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling system using numerical simulations and integrated data analysis. He is also engaged in graduate and undergraduate education at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences.

Educational Activities
Dr. Watanabe supervises undergraduate and graduate students of the Solar-Terrestrial Physics Group at the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences. He also teaches classes both at graduate and undergraduate levels, which include "Space Electromagnetic Dynamics," "Magnetohydrodynamics," and "Information Handling for Earth and Planetary Sciences."
