Outline Activities
・Department of Surgery and Sciences, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyushu University (April 2011-present)
After studying molecularbiology in Chiba Cancer Center, moved back to Kyushu University. As an assistant professor, performed many gastroenterological operation, including esophagectomy and reconstruction, laparoscopic gastrectomy and laparoscopic colectomy. Also managed chemotherapy patients including many clinical trials. Involved in palliative care to terminal stage cancer patients.
・Chiba Cancer Center Research Institute (April 2009-March 2011, Supervisor Akira Nakagawara)
Investigated the mechanism of KIF1Bβ, the 1p36 tumor suppressor, responsible for the alteration of mitochondrial morphologenesis.
・Department of Surgery and Sciences, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyushu University (April 2006-March 2010, Prof. Yoshihiko Maehara)
To better understand surgery and cancer biology, entered the graduate school after the completion of training as a resident. Worked in surgery department for one year to learn how to deal with cancer patients. The second year, worked on DNA ploidy and spindle assembly checkpoint (SAC) in gastric cancers and found that abnormal expression of BUBR1, one of the proteins in SAC, resulted in DNA aneuploidy.
・Saiseikai Fukuoka General Hospital (April 2004- March 2006)
As a resident worked in many departments including internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and ER. Had an interest in gastroenterological surgery.
・Kyushu University School of Medicine (April 1998- March 2004)
Experienced DNA cloning in a laboratory of basic science (sponsor; Yusaku Nakabeppu). Managed Kendo club as a captain. Passed the National Examination for Medical Practitioners, and received the medical license.
