Outline Activities
Kuriko Kudo, Ph.D., has worked at the Telemedicine Development Center of Asia (TEMDEC) at Kyushu University Hospital since August 2011. She graduated from Kyushu University with a doctorate in design, with digital archives using 3D computer graphics based on physical measuring and modeling.
She currently works in technical support for remote medical education as an assistant professor and chief technical officer (CTO) of TEMDEC. She is involved in engineering training as a Steering Committee member of the Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) Medical Working Group. She also leads research on
Development and validation of an evaluation criteria for engineering training programs in Asian Telemedicine conferences, and development of management system of international medical teleconferences.

- Creativity is an important factor in realizing innovation. In recent years, education incorporating design has been promoted in various fields around the world, but educational programs specializing in the fusion of medicine and design are limited in Japan. In this research, we will develop an education program that integrates medicine and design to develop human resources who create and demonstrate solutions to problems in the medical field based on design thinking.
- In Myanmar, there are serious problems in health care, such as medical disparities in urban and rural areas, specialists shortage, and lack of post-graduate medical education system. Basic and advanced medical education in clinical practice will be implemented by exchanges of medical staffs.
Simultaneously, the engineer's training program for establishment of telemedicine is also implemented. This project aims to provide a healthy life to all Myanmar citizens, as well as introducing Japanese medical technology and medical devices to Myanmar widely, by combination of effective hands-on training and sustainable distant medical education. - Develop, transfer, disseminate and implement the"Guidelines for the development of Telemedicine and Telehealth in Chile" to facilitate and accelerate innovation processes of Chile’s public and private health care systems, aiming at improving people’s access to quality healthcare and healthsystem’s efficiency.

Professional and Outreach Activities
Although the evolution of the medical technology is amazing, the disparities in health care level by countries and regions has become a global issue. We are trying to support these disparities by adopting distance education via the Internet that can be shared with high-quality medical images of the far-flung areas internationally. We are trying to use ICT for efficient and effective medical programs such as live operation in the international congress, international case conferences, and remote consultation with foreign patient collaborating with International Patient Support Center (IPAC).
