Research is focussed on analytical solution methods for partial differential equations subject to physically relevant boundary conditions occurring in linear elastic contact problems, soil water infiltration, and nonlinear heat conduction. Solutions obtained involve generalised functions, asymptotic analysis, singular integral equations, integral transforms, manipulation of novel hypergeometric series, integrable systems, and symbolic computation.

Having taught a variety of applied mathematics subjects in the past, at present I coordinate a graduate subject providing data science students with industry experience. I also supervise graduate research students.

Being based in Australia I am involved in research collaborations with Australian academics, as well as academics at the Institute of Mathematics for Industry, Kyushu University. I recently collaborated with Sean McGinty, Vernon Phoenix and Raimondo Penta during an academic visit to Glasgow. .
