1. Kaoru Matsumoto, Hiroshi Miyauchi, Akihiko Koga, Adapting the Drill-and-practice-type e-Learning System SANNO KNOWLEDGE FIELD to SCORM Standards and Developing Its Contents, Journal of Information and Systems in Education, 9, 1, 85-100, 2010.08, This paper describes redesign of the drill-and-practice-type e-learning system SANNO KNOWLEDGE FIELD (SKF) and its contents in order to make them compliant with SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 international standards and while maintaining the learning functionalities. SKF was developed as an ASP-type WBT and its contents have been implemented with the proprietary specification. Such specification makes the system very suitable and has an advantage in not causing any compatibility problem. However, it is difficult to deliver the contents to other e-learning systems. Redesigning the contents to be compliant with the SCORM standards enables them to run on various types of learning management systems worldwide..
2. This paper describes how to redesign a drill-and-practice-typed e-learning system SANNO KNOWL- EDGE FIELD (SKF) and its contents in order to bring them into compliance with SCORM1.2/2004 international standard. At first, SKF had been independently developed as ASP-typed WBT and its contents had been also implemented on it with the unique specification. Such specification allowed the system to be most suitable and gave an advantage in not causing any compatibility problem. However, there was difficulty in providing the contents for the other e-learning systems. Redesigning the contents in compliance with the SCORM standard enables them to run on various types of LMSs in worldwide. In this paper, we show the way to adapt the contents to the SCORM standard and challenges in imple- menting them when the redesigned contents complying with the SCORM standard realizing the same learning mechanism as the existing LMS had. .
3. Kaoru Matsumoto,Takahiro Fukushima,Masaki Nakagawa, Collection and analysis of on-line handwritten Japanese character patterns, SIXTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DOCUMENT ANALYSIS AND RECOGNITION, PROCEEDINGS, 496-500, 2001.09, This paper describes our second collection of on-line handwritten character patterns and their analysis. 163 writers presented about 10,000 character patterns, covering 4,438 categories mainly in the context of sentences. Together with our Kuchibue database containing 12,000 patterns from 120 writers, we have now collected about 3 million patterns. For this second collection of on-line patterns, named Nakayosi, we analyzed stroke number and order variations..
Presentations
1. Kaoru Matsumoto, Discovering advanced research using altmetrics, Strategic use of research performance analysis to strengthen university research capability, 2021.03, Lately, many universities have been conducting research performance analysis, but how are the results used for strengthening research? At this seminar, research administrators from renowned research institutions in Japan, Australia and China have been invited to give a talk on their experiences. In this lecture, he will introduce an outline of new index altmetrics for discovering research themes that could strengthen research, tools developed for excavation, and how to use them..
