Outline Activities
Research: In order to solve aquatic environmental problems in coastal sea and river, I have been attempted to identify the solution by using environmental fluid dynamics. I apply an approach to a phenomenon by field survey, numerical simulation and laboratory experiment. In addition, many collaboration with other universities, institute and overseas researchers are progressing.
Education: I try to upskill communication of undergraduate and graduate student. On the other hand, I take particuler note of an international communication skill for graduate and PhD student.
Social Activities: I try to cooperate with governments, private companies and civil societies more actively in order to conserve and restorate aquatic environment.
Research
Research Interests
  • Development of Comprehensive Evaluation for Driftwoods Hazards Risk in Watershed Area
keyword : catchment area, driftwood, hazard, flood, river
    2013.04.
  • Development of Runoff Model for the Ariake Sea catchment area
keyword : catchment area, coastal zone, adaptation for global warming
    2006.04.
  • Relation between structure of currents and water quality in the Ariake Sea
keyword : field measurement, current, stratification, eutrophication
2001.04In order to clarify the mechanism of occurence of red tide and oxygen depression in the Ariake Sea, Japan, we have been trying field observation and numerical simulation of structure of current and stratification..
  • Relation between riverine eivironment and flow regime
keyword : field measurement, flow regime, aquatic environment, stream ecosystem
2003.04We have been attempting to evaluate the effect of structure of current on water quality and ecosystem in a natural river by field observation. We have been carrying out in situ measurement of current and water quality and ecological survey in the Chikugo River and the Banjyo River, Japan..
  • Fate of trace mercury in coastal area
keyword : total mercury, methyl-mercury, currents, field measurement, numerical modeling
2000.04Field measurements of mercury transport have been carring out in Minamata Bay, Japan and Gulf of Trieste, Italy and Slovenia, in order to modelling for temporal and spatial mercury (total-mercury and methylmercury) distribution considering physical, chemical and biological processes..
Current and Past Project
  • In order to clarify the main reason for detrioration of aquatic environment in the Ariake Sea, our research group has carried out large scale in situ measurement of current and stratification.

Educational
Educational Activities
I try easy-to understand lesson in order to understand the theory of fluid dynamics for undergraduate students. I focus on a theoretical concept and applications of environmental fluid dynamics in lessons for graduate students. In our laboratory I try to promote member's independence in order to participate in thier researches aggressively.
Other Educational Activities
  • 2009.04.
Social
Professional and Outreach Activities
I try to strengthen cooperation with Japanese and local governments, private companies, universities and institutes in order to return our research results to the society. Especially, I propose concrete remedial measures for aquatic environmental problems in coastal sea, river and lake. Recently, I have been working on an investigation into the cause of the ARIAKE Probrem energetically. Our results contribute largely to identifying the solution of it..
