岩石や鉱物を用いた古地磁気強度測定により、様々な時間スケールでの地球磁場強度変動の推定を行っている。また、海底熱水鉱床や土器片などに含まれる磁性鉱物の磁気特性を利用した形成環境推定にかかわる研究を行っている。
