本研究の概要は，レバノン南部の都市ティール（古代フェニキア人の都市テュロス）の地峡部にあるユネスコ世界遺産アルバスサイト内の大戦車競技場の東側の窪地にほぼ埋もれていたヘレニズム時代からローマ時代のものと思われる大型廟（東西約6m，南北約5m，高さ約2.4m，おそらく元は10本の円柱が立ち，屋根の存在は不明であるが，北面に5基の納体室を持ち，東西南面の壁面に装飾絵画を持つ）と，その周辺の地下に埋没していると考えられるネクロポリス（公共墓地）の発掘調査行を行い、古代フェニキア都市の実態を解明する研究である。

古代ローマ建築において，円筒ヴォールト，交差ヴォールト，ドームなどを建造する際に，コンクリート打設のために組まれた木の型枠が躯体に転写することがあるが，こうした型枠はコンクリート養生後に取り去られるため現物は残らない。３D実測の分解能を上げていくことで，遺構そのものだけではなく，既に失われた型枠の形すら実測することは出来ないだろうか。本研究では，古代ローマ建造物の型枠の転写を対象に，申請者自身が既に確認しているポンペイ，ヘルクラネウム，オスティア，また，ローマではコロッセウム，ゴルディアーニの霊廟，アウレリアヌス城壁において失われた型枠の形の記録・分析を試みる。

都市＝庶民生活の場ととらえ、以下の観点から研究を進める。食）外食が主流であった古代ローマの食生活について、タベルナやテルモポリウムに加えて、住宅内にも設置されたクリーナ（台所）の特定を進める。娯楽）劇場と浴場が対象となる。ここでは数百人以上を収容するような常設の劇場ではなく、住居内に設置された集会室、あるいは小型の浴場をターゲットにする。宗教）囲壁周辺、とくにオスティアにおいて、門外の墓群と居住との混在について検討する。法）様々な法的告示、命令と実際の遺構を関連付ける、とくに違法性を検討することにより、法社会学の立場から都市生活を読み解く。
