    The bioinspired catalyst system was developed in the interdisciplinary fields of bioinorganic chemistry and catalytic chemistry. In nature, enzymes catalyze various molecular transformations under mild conditions with a high efficiency and selectivity. Therefore, we can learn about many excellent systems from nature. As for the catalyst design, a metal complex inspired by the active site of a metal enzyme has been developed and the combination of the metal complex with a redox system should form an excellent catalytic system. Based on this concept, we can use various redox systems such as electrochemistry and photo-excited chemistry to construct a catalyst system. Among the metal complexes inspired from natural metal enzymes, the cobalt ion containing the B12 derivative is the focus on this account. Organometallic B12 complexes are unique metal complexes having a cobalt-carbon bond that exist in biological systems. Cleavage of the metal-organic σ-bond initiates many B12 dependent enzymatic reactions. Based on the unique properties of alkylated cobalt complex, many B12-inspired reactions have been developed. Here the visible light driven B12 inspired reaction for the synthesis of various compounds from organic halides as carbon source were summarized, and the combination of the B12 derivative as redox catalyst in electroorganic synthesis for the conversion of various trichloromethylated organic compounds to amides was reviewed.

    The B12-TiO2 hybrid catalyst was effectively immobilized on a glass plate, and the immobilized catalyst shows an efficient reactivity for various molecular transformations, such as the 1,2-migration of the phenyl group and dechlorination of perchloroethylene during irradiation by UV light.

    A new macrocyclic ligand (L1) having four crown ether moieties at the peripheral position was synthesized by a conventional Schiff-base condensation reaction. The corresponding dinickel (1) and dicobalt (2) complexes formed a unique face-to-face dimerized structure by complexation with a Cs+ ion, which was characterized by 1H NMR, UV-vis, and electro-spray ionization (ESI)-MS. Multi-sandwich structures consist of a 2:1 interaction of the benzo-18-crown-6-ether with the Cs+ ion afforded a significantly high overall formation constant (Kall= 25.9±0.9 at 298 K). The redox behavior of the assembled structure of the dicobalt complex was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. In the dimerized structure, two sequential reductions ascribed to the CoIICoII/CoIICoI and CoIICoI/CoICoI couples were observed at -1.13 V (E1) and -1.36 V (E2) vs. Ag/AgCl, and both potentials were separated by E = E1- E2 = 0.23 V. A mixed valence state (CoIICoI) was stabilized in the complex with the comproportionation constant Kcom = 7.7x103 at 298 K.

    A cobalamin derivative, cobyrinic acid, was effectively immobilized on TiO2, and the hybrid TiO2 was characterized by UV-VIS, XPS, MALDI TOF-MS as well as TEM analysis. The hybrid TiO2 exhibits high reactivity for dehalogenation of various organic halides such as phenethyl bromide, benzyl bromide and 1,1-bis(4-chlorophenyl)-2,2,2-trichloroethane (DDT) under irradiation with UV light at room temperature.

    A new dinuclear complex of cobalt (III) having double bis-crowns moieties (1) was synthesized in a one-pot multi-step reaction between dinucleating ligand (H2L1), Co(OAc)•4H2O, and 4’-aminomethylbenzo-15-crown 5-ether under aerobic condition. The complex was characterized by UV-vis, IR, NMR, and CSI-mass spectroscopies, and axial coordination of 4’-aminomethylbenzo-15-crown 5-ether on both cobalt centers was confirmed. The bis-crowns moieties of 1 acted as potassium ion binding site with a large association constant (K) of 1.97x105 M-1 (1:1) caused by pre-organized bis-crowns structure. Solvent extraction of K+ (potassium picrate) with 1 was investigated by UV-vis and NMR, and extracted K+ was quantified by atomic absorption/flame emission spectrophotometer.  The cyclic voltammogram (CV) of 1 showed irreversible redox waves at -0.57 V and +0.16 V vs. Ag/AgCl in DMF which are ascribed to Co(III) and Co(II) redox couple. The large peak separation (Δ0.73 V) of this redox couple indicates the association and dissociation of the axial amine on cobalt centers. The irreversible reduction peak of 1 at -0.57 V was shifted to positive direction by 80 mV in the presence of potassium ion, showing the complexation of 1 with potassium ion. Reversible formation and decomposition of the double bis-crown moieties in 1 caused by the electrical stimulus were also investigated by thin-layer UV-VIS spectroelectrochemistry. The switching of double bis-crowns structure of 1 was established over four times with response to electrical energy.

    This concept focuses on dual-catalysis using metal complexes and heterogeneous photocatalysts. Vitamin B12 derivatives are sophisticated metal complexes that facilitate enzymatic reactions in the biological systems. The B12 enzymes inspired reactions catalytically proceed in dual-catalyst systems of B12 derivatives and heterogeneous photocatalysts, such as titanium oxide (TiO2) and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), under light irradiation. The cobalt ions in B12 derivatives are effectively reduced by photoexcited photocatalysts, producing low-valent Co(I) species. The photoinduced nucleophilic Co(I) species react with an alkyl halide to form an organometallic complex with a Co−C bond. The Co−C bond dissociates during photolysis to generate alkyl radicals. Based on this mechanism, dual-catalysis effectively promotes various light-driven organic syntheses and light-driven dehalogenation reactions of toxic alkyl halides. The trends of the dual-catalyst system and recent progress in this field are discussed in this concept.

    <p>A hybrid catalyst composed of naturally occurring metal complexes and semiconductor photocatalysts enables a variety of molecular transformations in a green and sustainable manner. In this study, we have developed the visible light-driven hybrid catalyst (B<sub>12</sub>–M<i><sup>n</sup></i><sup>+</sup>/TiO<sub>2</sub>) composed of “vitamin B<sub>12</sub>” and “metal ion-grafted TiO<sub>2</sub> (M<i><sup>n</sup></i><sup>+</sup>/TiO<sub>2</sub>)”. The B<sub>12</sub>–M<i><sup>n</sup></i><sup>+</sup>/TiO<sub>2</sub> was prepared by mixing of B<sub>12</sub> derivatives and M<i><sup>n</sup></i><sup>+</sup>/TiO<sub>2</sub>, and this hybrid catalyst was thoroughly characterized by various measurements. The B<sub>12</sub>–M<i><sup>n</sup></i><sup>+</sup>/TiO<sub>2</sub> effectively produced reactive Co(I) species under visible light irradiation. In addition, the reactivity of Co(I) species toward CO<sub>2</sub> reduction was investigated in this study.</p>

    <p>The bioinspired catalyst system was developed in the interdisciplinary fields of bioinorganic chemistry and catalytic chemistry. In nature, enzymes catalyze various molecular transformations under mild conditions with a high efficiency and selectivity. Therefore, we can learn about many excellent systems from nature. As for the catalyst design, a metal complex inspired by the active site of a metal enzyme has been developed and the combination of the metal complex with a redox system should form an excellent catalytic system. Based on this concept, we can use various redox systems such as electrochemistry and photo-excited chemistry to construct a catalyst system. Among the metal complexes inspired from natural metal enzymes, the cobalt ion containing the B<sub>12</sub> derivative is the focus on this account. Organometallic B<sub>12</sub> complexes are unique metal complexes having a cobalt-carbon σ-bond that exist in biological systems. Cleavage of the metal-organic σ-bond initiates many B<sub>12</sub> dependent enzymatic reactions. Based on the unique properties of alkylated cobalt complex, many B<sub>12</sub>-inspired reactions have been developed. Here the visible light driven B<sub>12</sub> inspired reaction for the synthesis of various compounds from organic halides as carbon source were summarized, and the combination of the B<sub>12</sub> derivative as redox catalyst in electroorganic synthesis for the conversion of various trichloromethylated organic compounds to amides was reviewed.</p>

    Functional group migrations are one of the most powerful strategies in the construction of complex molecules. [1,3]-Migrations, especially 1,3-C → C migrations are more challenging for the difficulty in the formation of highly strained four-membered ring intermediates. In the limited reports, narrow substrate tolerance, basic additives or high temperature are unavoidable. Herein, visible-light-mediated novel 1,3-C → C migrations of N-allyl enamines under base-free conditions are researched. Radical-triggered 1,3-C → C acyl and cyano migrations were achieved, initiated by a reductive radical-polar crossover (RPC) process. A variety of biologically active cyclic imines were synthesized in good-to-excellent yields under very mild reaction conditions. DFT calculations support our proposal that the radical cyclization of N-allyl enamines facilitates the reductive RPC process, which triggers the formation of strained four-membered ring intermediates for 1,3-migrations. Thus, a tandem radical cyclization/RPC/1,3-C → C migration process has been developed under base-free conditions. Furthermore, from the same N-allyl enamines, different cyclic imines, i.e., (3-azabicyclo[3.1.0]hex-2-enes), could be achieved in high selectivity mediated by the acridine photosensitizer and Co(ii) additive.

    Reductive dehalogenation of an aryl halide (Ar-X) subsequent coupling with bis(pinacolato)diboron (B<sub>2</sub>pin[Formula: see text] to form an arylboronate (Ar-Bpin) by the photo-excited B[Formula: see text] complex of the Co[Formula: see text] oxidation state with an iridium photosensitizer (PS), [Ir(dtbbpy)(ppy)<sub>2</sub>]PF<sub>6</sub>, under anaerobic conditions was reported. The robust B[Formula: see text] complex and iridium PS provided the highest turnover numbers of over 3,800 for the borylation reaction at room temperature. The Co<sup>I</sup> state of the B[Formula: see text] complex was formed via the reductive quenching pathway of [Ir(dtbbpy)(ppy)<sub>2</sub>]PF<sub>6</sub> by visible light irradiation in the presence of [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]-diisopropylethylamine ([Formula: see text]-Pr<sub>2</sub>NEt) as a sacrificial electron donor (SED), which was confirmed by a photoluminescence lifetime analysis. A picosecond time-resolved spectroscopic analysis showed that the electron transfer from the excited Co[Formula: see text] state of the B[Formula: see text] complex ([Formula: see text]Co[Formula: see text] to the Ar-X occurred in the order of the rate constants for electron transfer ([Formula: see text], Ar-I [Formula: see text] Ar-Br [Formula: see text] Ar-Cl. Based on the mechanistic studies, dual excitation of PS and the B[Formula: see text] complex is involved in the catalytic reaction and single electron transfer (SET) from [Formula: see text]Co[Formula: see text] to Ar-X could provide the aryl radical by fragmentation of the Ar-X radical anion. The aryl radical should react with the radical trapping reagent, B<sub>2</sub>pin<sub>2</sub>, to form the Ar-Bpin product.

    Visible light-driven benzoyl azides formation catalyzed by a rhodium ion modified TiO2 (Rh3+/TiO2) is reported. The Rh3+/TiO2 was prepared as a visible light responsive photocatalyst by a simple procedure from TiO2 and RhCl3・3H2O. The Rh3+/TiO2 exhibited a broaden visible light absorption from 400 nm to 600 nm. Benzoyl azide formation from a benzotrichloride and a trimethylsilyl azide (TMS-N3) was performed catalyzed by the Rh3+/TiO2 under visible light irradiation (λ ≥ 420 nm) in air at room temperature. In this reaction, the benzotrichloride was effectively reduced by the single electron transfer (SET) from the Rh3+/TiO2, and the benzoyl azide was produced in 71% yield via the reaction between the benzoyl chloride and TMS-N3. In addition, several benzotrichloride derivatives were applied to this reaction and the corresponding benzoyl azide derivatives were formed in up to 71% yield. A kinetic analysis was also performed on these reactions, and it was suggested that the SET is the rate determining step in this reaction.

    Continuous flow reactors with immobilized catalysts are in great demand in various industries, to achieve easy separation, regeneration, and recycling of catalysts from products. Oxidation of alcohols with 4-amino-TEMPO-immobilized monolith catalyst was investigated in batch and continuous flow systems. The polymer monoliths were prepared by polymerization-induced phase separation using styrene derivatives, and 4-amino-TEMPO was immobilized on the polymer monolith with a flow reaction. The prepared 4-amino-TEMPO-immobilized monoliths showed high permeability, due to their high porosity. In batch oxidation, the reaction rate of 4-amino-TEMPO-immobilized monolith varied with stirring. In flow oxidation, the eluent permeated without clogging, and efficient flow oxidation was possible with residence times of 2–8 min. In the recycling test of the flow oxidation reaction, the catalyst could be used at least six times without catalyst deactivation.

    Pyrrole-containing metal complexes widely exist in nature, for example, vitamin B-12, heme, chlorophyll, and their derivatives. Each of them shows significant functions, which are essential for life. To mimic their important functions and substance conversion reactions, numerous pyrrole-containing metal complexes have been synthesized and investigated. This review mainly focuses on cobalt complexes having pyrrolecontaining ligands and the recent progress of molecular transformations catalyzed by the complexes, especially the vitamin B-12-related cobalt complexes and porphycene cobalt complexes. A variety of reaction systems, which enable a number of molecular transformations under mild conditions is described. The construction of new reaction systems and a combination of the materials inspired by natural systems is a promising and effective approach to realizing eco-friendly and cost-effective reaction systems.     Heterogeneous catalysts composed of a vitamin B-12 derivative with a polymer or mesoporous silica were synthesized and characterized. These two types of catalysts were used in alkane oxidation reactions with mCPBA oxidant, and improved catalytic efficiency was obtained using the polymer supported B-12 catalyst with a monolith structure compared to that of the monomeric B-12 catalyst. The catalytic effects were also evaluated in several alkane substrates and the polymer supported B-12 catalyst showed a better performance in all reactions compared to the silicasupported B-12 catalyst.

    The development of highly-functional visible light-driven hybrid catalysts (B-12-Mn+/TiO2) prepared from B-12 complexes (B-12) derived from natural vitamin B-12, earth-abundant metal ions (Mn+), and titanium oxide (TiO2) was reported. The metal ions, such as Cu2+, Ni2+, Fe2+, Zn2+, Mn2+, Al3+, and Mg2+, were modified on the surface of TiO2 (2.4 x 10(-5)-9.9 x 10(-5) mol/g) to obtain effective response to visible light, and the B-12 complex was also loaded (6.2 x 10(-6)-1.1 x 10(-5) mol/g) to produce a highly-functional hybrid catalyst. Amide formations from dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) catalyzed by the B-12-Mn+/TiO2 proceeded in up to 89% yields in the presence of triethylamine (NEt3) under visible light irradiation (lambda >= 420 nm) in air at room temperature. These hybrid catalysts could be classified into two groups based on these reactivities, and it was found that the B-12-Mg2+/TiO2 showed the most effective catalytic activities of all the prepared samples. The B-12-Mg2+/TiO2 also catalyzed the syntheses of fine chemicals, such as N,N-diethyl-3-methylbenzeamide (DEET), and N,N-diethylcyanoformamide, from the corresponding trichloromethyl compounds (FG-CCl3) with about 80% yields.

    The oxidation of alkanes with m-chloroperbenzoic acid (mCPBA) catalyzed by the B12 derivative, heptamethyl cobyrinate, was investigated under several conditions. During the oxidation of cyclohexane, heptamethyl cobyrinate works as a catalyst to form cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone at a 0.67 alcohol to ketone ratio under aerobic conditions in 1 h. The reaction rate shows a firstorder dependence on the [catalyst] and [mCPBA] while being independent of [cyclohexane]; Vobs = k2[catalyst][mCPBA]. The kinetic deuterium isotope effect was determined to be 1.86, suggesting that substrate hydrogen atom abstraction is not dominantly involved in the rate-determining step. By the reaction of mCPBA and heptamethyl cobyrinate at low temperature, the corresponding cobalt(III)acylperoxido complex was formed which was identified by UV-vis, IR, ESR, and ESI-MS studies. A theoretical study suggested the homolysis of the O-O bond in the acylperoxido complex to form Co(III)-oxyl (Co-O center dot) and the m-chlorobenzoyloxyl radical. Radical trapping experiments using Ntert-butyl-alpha-phenylnitrone and CCl3Br, product analysis of various alkane oxidations, and computer analysis of the free energy for radical abstraction from cyclohexane by Co(III)-oxyl suggested that both Co(III)-oxyl and the m-chlorobenzoyloxyl radical could act as hydrogen-atom transfer reactants for the cyclohexane oxidation.

    One-pot synthetic approach to produce trifluoroacetamide has been developed using an electrochemical method with the B12 complex as a catalyst under mild conditions, in open air at room temperature. Thirty examples of trifluoroacetamide were synthesized from 1,1,1-trichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane (CFC-113a) in moderate to good yields. This user-friendly strategy is compatible with a broad range of trifluoroacetamide syntheses.

    A new meso-tetrakis(3,5-di-tert-butylphenyl) substituted porphycene and its cobalt complex were synthesized and characterized. Several meso-tetraarylporphycene cobalt complexes having different substituents showed catalytic activity for the hydrogen gas evolution reaction (HER) in the presence of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) under electrochemical reductive conditions. The electrochemical potential of the HER was -1.50V vs. Ag/AgCl in THF. The active species of this reaction were determined to be the ligand reduced species of Co(II) porphycenes. The catalytic efficiencies of the cobalt complexes of meso-aryl substituted porphycenes and meso-tetraphenylporphyrin were compared and meso-tetraphenyl porphycene cobalt complex exhibited the best current efficiency of 72%. Based on these experimental results and theoretical calculations, we proposed a possible HER mechanism of this system.

    The electrochemical properties of beta-octaethylporphycene iridium complex (Ir-OEPo) were determined. Based on the electro-spectro measurement results, the reduction of Ir-OEPo did not occur at the central metal but at the ligand, while the reduction of beta-octaethylporphyrin iridium complex (Ir-OEPor) occurred at the central iridium. A catalytic current was observed during the cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements with trifluoroacetic acid (TEA) under a reductive condition, indicating the catalytic reactivity of Ir-OEPo for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). By constant potential electrolysis, hydrogen gas was detected by gas chromatography (GC) and the catalytic reactivity of Ir-OEPo was confirmed. The HER mechanism via ligand reduction of macrocycfic aromatic complexes could be one of the concepts for the development of new catalysts.

    Bioorganometallic structure found in coenzyme B12 is a key component in B12-dependent enzymatic reactions in natural enzymes. Cleavage of a cobalt-carbon bond in organometallic B12 compound provide reactive intermediate for molecular transformations. Application of the bioorganometallic B12 in organic synthesis have been developed using natural vitamin B12 as well as synthetic vitamin B12 derivatives as a bioinspired catalyst in organic solvent. Vitamin B12 derivatives composed of corrinoid structure should form stable organometallic compound having a cobalt-carbon bond. Using the unique property of the organometallic vitamin B12 derivatives, various catalytic reactions have been developed in synthetic organic chemistry. The dual catalytic system of vitamin B12 derivatives and photocatalyst, such as Ru(II) polypyridyl complex or titanium oxide, could construct light-driven molecular transformations. The B12-dependent enzymes mimic reactions, such as the dechlorination of organic halides and the radical mediated isomerization reactions, catalytically proceed in the dual catalyst system. Electroorganic syntheses mediated by the vitamin B12 derivatives have been developed as green molecular transformations. The redox active vitamin B12 derivatives shows a unique catalysis in the electroorganic synthesis, such as alkene and alkyne reductions.

    The dihydrogenated porphycene cobalt(ii) complex was synthesized and electrochemical experiments were carried out. The one-electron reduction of the complex proceeded at the central metal to afford the Co(i) species; in contrast, for the non-hydrogenated porphycene cobalt(ii) complex, the one-electron reduction gave the ligand reduced radical anion species. The reactivity of the one-electron reduced species with alkyl halides showed clear differences between the complexes. Hydrogenation of the β-position of the porphycene makes it possible to generate a central cobalt reduced species possessing a higher reactivity than the ligand reduced radical anion species.

    Bioorganometallic structure found in coenzyme B12 is a key component in B12-dependent enzymatic reactions in natural enzymes. Cleavage of a cobalt-carbon bond in organometallic B12 compound provide reactive intermediate for molecular transformations. Application of the bioorganometallic B12 in organic synthesis have been developed using natural vitamin B12 as well as synthetic vitamin B12 derivatives as a bioinspired catalyst in organic solvent. Vitamin B12 derivatives composed of corrinoid structure should form stable organometallic compound having a cobalt-carbon bond. Using the unique property of the organometallic vitamin B12 derivatives, various catalytic reactions have been developed in synthetic organic chemistry. The dual catalytic system of vitamin B12 derivatives and photocatalyst, such as Ru(II) polypyridyl complex or titanium oxide, could construct light-driven molecular transformations. The B12-dependent enzymes mimic reactions, such as the dechlorination of organic halides and the radical mediated isomerization reactions, catalytically proceed in the dual catalyst system. Electroorganic syntheses mediated by the vitamin B12 derivatives have been developed as green molecular transformations. The redox active vitamin B12 derivatives shows a unique catalysis in the electroorganic synthesis, such as alkene and alkyne reductions.

    生体内での酵素反応は、温和な常温•常圧下で進行し、また有機合成化学的にも魅力的な反応が多い.我々は、天然の有機金属錯体であるビタミンB12依存性酵素に着目し、そのモデル錯体を用いた天然酵素を範とする様々な物質変換反応を開発してきた(官能基転位反応、脱塩素化反応、クロスカップリング反応等)1,2.これらの反応は、超求核性を示すCo(I)種と有機ハロゲン化物との反応により生成するコバルト-炭素結合を有するアルキル錯体が中間体として進行している.近年、可視光駆動型錯体触媒の開発は、太陽光利用を目指した次世代のクリーン触媒の発展における重要な課題である.このような観点から最近当研究室では、ビタミンB12誘導体とロジウムイオンを表面修飾した酸化チタン複合触媒を合成し、可視光応答型の物質変換反応を報告している3.本研究では、より汎用性の高い触媒開発を目指し、安価な遷移金属イオンやアルカリ土類金属イオンを修飾した酸化チタン複合触媒を開発し、その可視光応答性を利用した新規不飽和ニトリル合成反応の開発を行った.

    酸素敏感性の低原子価Co(I)種の利用及びアルキル錯体の開裂から生成するラジカル種を経由する触媒反応においては、嫌気性条件下で行うことが常識であった。しかし電解還元などにより常に電極から電子を供給し続けることが可能な系では、好気性条件下においても活性Co(I)種が生成しトリクロロアセトニトリルの電解反応を酸素共存下で行うことで、酸塩化物を中間体としたアミド合成反応の開発に成功した。

    我々は、ビタミンB12のモデル化合物と無機材料である酸化チタン(TiO2)を複合したハイブリッド触媒を作製し、光駆動型の物質変換反応の開発を行って来た。ビタミンB12は中心にコバルトイオンを含む金属錯体であり、Co(I)種へと還元することで高い求核性を示し、各種求電子剤との反応に利用出来る(プロトン還元、有機塩素化合物の脱塩素化反応等)。本複合触媒においては酸化チタンの励起電子の還元力を利用することで、還元Co(I)種を生成しているが、TiO2の励起にはバンドギャップエネルギーに相当する紫外線照射が必要であった。本討論会では、カテコールとビタミンB12誘導体をそれぞれ別個に修飾したTiO2を作成し、両者を混合して用いることで、電荷分離状態の安定化5)によるさらなる反応の効率化を目指した(図1b)。また用いるTiO2の結晶系の違いに起因する伝導体電位(CB)の違いが、本システムにどのような影響を及ぼすかについても検討した。

    水素は次世代のクリーンエネルギーとして注目され、様々な水素生成技術が開発されている。しかし現状の水素発生触媒は、化石燃料を原料として製造されており、また使用する触媒は高価で複雑なものであり、安価な遷移金属を用いた触媒の開発が強く望まれている。そこで本研究では、コバルト錯体のCo(I)種のプロトン還元能に着目し、新規な水素発生触媒の開発を行った。コバルト錯体としてはモノアニオン性の配位子であるイミン/オキシム型の二核コバルト錯体を用い、その二核中心の協同効果を利用した反応システムを構築した。

    B12-dependent enzymes, involving the cobalamin as a catalytic center, mediate various reactions.1 The CoI species of cobalamin derivative is widely known as a supernucleophile that forms an alkylated complex by reaction with an alkyl halide.2 The alkylated complex is a useful reagent for forming radical species as the cobalt-carbon bond is readily cleaved homolytically by photolysis, electrolysis, and thermolysis.3 Our research interest is focused on the application of this catalytic system to various molecular transformations. Recently, we reported dechlorination of DDT catalyzed by B12 derivative, heptamethyl cobrinate perchlorate, with a visible light irradiation system containing a [Ru(II)(bpy) 3]Cl2 photosensitizer as shown in Scheme 1.4 Although B12 derivative showed high catalytic efficiency in the reaction, large amount of photosensitizer was required for the reaction. To improve this problem, we synthesized new B12 catalyst having Ru(bpy)3 unit at peripheral position as shown in Chart 1. In this complex, photosensitizing unit was covalently bounded in cobalamin derivative, and which may allows efficient electron transfer from Ru(bpy)3 moiety to cobalt center of B12 moiety.

    Naturally-occurring B12(cobalamin)-dependent enzymes catalyze various molecular transformations that are of particular interest from the viewpoint of biological chemistry as well as synthetic organic chemistry. As bioorganometallic compounds are considered as intermediate for B12-dependent reactions, those were utilized as catalysts for various molecular transformations. Using the unique property of the B12 compound, various catalytic reactions have been developed using its model complex. Electroorganic syntheses mediated by the B12 complex have been developed as green molecular transformations. The redox active B12 complex shows a unique catalysis in organic synthesis such as the dechlorination of organic halides and the radical mediated isomerization reactions. The B12 complex-photosensitizer composites have also become a green and efficient catalyst for molecular transformations. The B12-dependent enzymes mimic reactions catalytically occurring using the B12 complex-photosensitizer composites. In addition to the B12 mimic reaction, novel bioinspired reactions were also developed, such as hydrogen production or alkene and alkyne reductions, and the cobalt-hydrogen complex was considered as a putative intermediate of the reactions.

    これまで,有機電気化学の基礎と電気化学測定(第1回),電解重合や高分子化合物を対象とした測定(第2回),および電解発生中間体のNMR,MS,IR,ラマン測定(第3回)について解説してきた.有機電気化学反応は,電極と対象となる化学物質との間の電子授受により進行し,電子を試薬とするクリーンで高効率な物質変換反応である点が最大の特徴である.光反応もまた,有機光化学分野を中心にクリーンでスマートな物質変換反応として発展してきた.よって電極反応の優れた特徴は,光反応を援用することでさらに拡張され,その利点を増幅す
    ることができる.チュートリアルシリーズの最終回である今回は,光反応を併用する有機電解反応と,有機電解反応の反応追跡や反応中間体の構造解析に有用である電
    解UV-vis測定(Spectroelectrochemistry測定)について解説する.さらに分光法の一種である電子スピン共鳴(ESR)法についても,有機電解反応におけるその援用法を紹介
    する.

    本研究では、環境負荷物質である有機ハロゲン化合物類を炭素資源と見なし、これを原料として様々な有用化成品合成を行い、負の化学遺産を価値ある化学物質に変換するという新しい視点に立った炭素資源循環反応を開発する。触媒としては、脱塩素化酵素の活性中心を模倣した金属錯体と可視光応答性光触媒を複合化したハイブリッド触媒を作製し、光エネルギーを駆動力とする反応系を構築する。さらに光合成Zスキーム機構を応用した二段階光励起触媒システムを構築し、水を電子源、空気中の酸素を酸素源、太陽光を駆動力とする物質変換システムを構築する。また本反応を光フロー反応システムに展開し、機械学習を取り入れた反応最適化にも取り組む。
