Profile
As Vice President at Kyushu University, I am in charge of "International Affairs and Diversity".
I also serve as Director of the International Education Navigation Center, where I oversee university-wide planning and implementation of international education initiatives.
As manager of the Global Strategies Office at Kyushu University my main tasks include:
・ Strategic international exchange (strategic partnerships, etc.)
・ Consortium-type international cooperation
・ Information gathering and analysis on trends in overseas higher education and student exchange
・ Support of and cooperation with the International Offices of all departments at Kyushu University
・ Support of and cooperation with each department in the development of inbound/outbound programs
My research areas cover organizational management, cross-cultural understanding and intercultural communication.

• Promotion of academic exchange, international collaborative research, and international education with universities having international exchange agreements.
• Support for and participation in the coordination of activities and events with strategic partners, namely the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), National Taiwan University (NTU), and Seoul National University (SNU), as well as the promotion of international collaborative education and research activities.
• Contributed to the establishment of the UIUC–NTU–KYUSHU Trilateral Partnership “UNIQ” by leveraging strategic partnerships with NTU and UIUC and strengthening collaboration among the three universities. Also contributed to the development of UNIQ as a Director. For example, conducted monthly Directors’ Meetings from June 2024 onwards; prepared for UNIQ branding; created, prepared, and implemented a Seed Grant Call to strengthen trilateral collaboration through joint research (resulting in 12 applications by the April 30, 2025 deadline); planned and served as facilitator for the UNIQ Workshop held at NTU, Taiwan (June 2026); planned, chaired, and facilitated the UNIQ Workshop held at Kyushu University’s Ito Campus (March 2025); prepared Seed Grant Proposals (October 31, 2024 and February 17, 2025); and played a central role in trilateral collaboration among the three universities.
• Planning and coordination of consortium-based international collaboration:
① Support for RENKEI events and activities (Steering Committee, workshops, sandpit events).
② Support for MIRAI 3.0 events and activities (Osaka EXPO MIRAI Day, University Leadership Summit, workshops [serving as Q&A facilitator], Kyushu University Topics articles, etc.).
③ Support for APRU (contribution to the planning and preparation of a Kyushu University-led pilot initiative for early-career researchers; organization of a VSE information session for students [January]; participation in APRU Secretariat Research Collaboration Meetings, APRU Japan Member Universities Administrative Meetings, Presidential Meeting, Senior International Leaders’ Week, and the APRU APWiL Workshop; introduction of Kyushu University project proposals at various events; support for Chulalongkorn University’s APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship Initiative).
④ Support for the UQ–KU Project (participation in regular meetings, support for the Q2PEC educational program, support for the planning and moderation of online lectures, and delivery of lectures).
⑤ Research on international consortia.
⑥ Support for the Japan–Sweden Seminar.
⑦ Attendance at JANET events, annual meetings, and opinion exchange sessions.
• Participation in the APAIE (Asia-Pacific Association for International Education), EAIE (European Association for International Education), and NAFSA (Association of International Educators), which brought together numerous higher education professionals from Asia, Oceania, Europe, and the Americas. In addition to promoting Kyushu University, this provided valuable opportunities for information gathering and led to negotiations for new institutional agreements.
• Contributed to increasing the number of universities with international exchange agreements in order to promote academic exchange with overseas universities and revitalize academic exchange activities with partner institutions (including international collaborative research, international collaborative education programs, international symposia, and international exchange training programs). To this end, visited overseas universities and institutions to conduct promotional activities related to the conclusion of international exchange agreements and promoted international collaborative research and international exchange programs with partner institutions.
• Contributed to the conclusion of agreements with other educational institutions.
• Organized the Global Intelligence organization (GUKIN) -Kyushu University Forum at Kyushu University on January 20–21, 2026. Top students from institutions such as Seoul National University exchanged ideas with Kyushu University students through workshops and discussions, creating opportunities for future student mobility. Currently engaged in discussions regarding the implementation of exchange programs with GUKIN aimed at further developing student exchange (both inbound and outbound) between Japan and Korea.
• Conducted a variety of outreach and promotional activities (e.g., study abroad fairs organized by JST, JASSO, and EJE, as well as Kyushu University’s own graduate recruitment fairs in Bangladesh, the United States, and Europe).
• Delivered multiple official presentations and courtesy visits on behalf of the President and Executive Vice Presidents at events such as the APRU Presidents’ Meeting and UNIQ Workshops.
• Contributed to the development of an educational environment that promotes overseas study opportunities for Japanese students. This included implementing extracurricular English-language classes to improve language proficiency; actively utilizing overseas study support programs such as those offered by JASSO; providing information on study abroad programs and scholarships; sharing information with current students through networks of former participants; and supporting students before departure and after returning from study abroad programs, thereby promoting outbound student mobility through programs such as Q2PEC and ELEP.

• Planned and delivered a lecture for the Itoshima City event “Exchange Event with International Students” (September 2025).
• Contributed to the promotion of multicultural coexistence and regional internationalization through collaboration with stakeholders in Fukuoka Prefecture and Itoshima City.
• Participated as moderator in the Kyushu U Connect Outreach Event for high school students (July 12, 2025).
• Conducted educational activities for children at the after-school day service center “Yume Fuusen.”
