Profile
As Vice President at Kyushu University, I am in charge of "International Affairs and Diversity".
I also serve as Director of the International Education Navigation Center, where I oversee university-wide planning and implementation of international education initiatives.
As manager of the Global Strategies Office at Kyushu University my main tasks include:
・ Strategic international exchange (strategic partnerships, etc.)
・ Consortium-type international cooperation
・ Information gathering and analysis on trends in overseas higher education and student exchange
・ Support of and cooperation with the International Offices of all departments at Kyushu University
・ Support of and cooperation with each department in the development of inbound/outbound programs
My research areas cover organizational management, cross-cultural understanding and intercultural communication.

Outline of Social Contribution and International Cooperation activities

・Promotion of academic exchange and international joint research with present and future partner universities
・Support and participation in activities and events with Kyushu University's strategic partners, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), National Taiwan University (NTU), and Seoul National University (SNU), while advancing international joint education and research initiatives.
・Contribution to the establishment of the UIUC-NTU-Kyushu University Trilateral Partnership UNIQ, leveraging strategic partnerships with NTU and UIUC to strengthen trilateral collaboration. As a Director, contributed to the development of UNIQ (e.g., convened monthly Directors' Meetings since June 2024; prepared and implemented a seed grant call to promote collaborative research, resulting in 12 applications by the April 30, 2025 deadline; planned, chaired, and facilitated the UNIQ Workshop held at Kyushu University in March 2025; and drafted seed grant proposals). Played a central role in branding, coordination, and expansion of the trilateral collaboration.
・Consortium-based international collaboration:
1. RENKEI - contributed to the Steering Committee, workshops, and sandpit events.
2. MIRAI - contributed to the University Leadership Summit, workshops (served as facilitator), and prepared articles for Kyushu University's "Topics".
3. APRU - contributed to the design and preparation of a pilot program let by Kyushu U for early-career researchers; organized information sessions on the Virtual Student Exchange program (Jan 12, 2025); participated in APRU Secretariat research collaboration meetings, APRU Japan members' meetings, the Presidents' Meeting, Senior International Leaders' Week, APWiL Closing Ceremony, and the APRU Workshop on Virtual Teaching; presented Kyushu U initiatives in multiple APRU events; and supported the APRU SDG Education for Global Citizenship program led by Chulalongkorn U.
4. UQ-KU Project - participated in regular meetings, supported the Q2PEC education program, and contributed to the planning and moderation of online lectures
5. Conducted research on consortium-based collaboration
6. Supported the Japan-Sweden seminar
7. Attended JANET general meetings and exchange of opinions sessions

・Promotion of academic exchange with partner universities through joint research, collaboration education programs, international symposia, and exchange programs, while also contributing to the increase of partner universities by engaging in outreach and promotional activities.
