植物内部で発生する植物生体電位と植物の外観情報である生育画像などの生体情報を用いて植物生理活性状態の定量的評価、環境モニタリングシステムの開発を行う。これらの実現により、従来は環境情報のみで行っていた環境制御が、植物の生体情報（表現型；Phenotype）を考慮した定量的な環境制御が可能になり、農作物栽培の効率化を実現することが期待される。

本研究は、植物の生体情報を活用した植物の適切な環境・生育管理の制御を目的としている。本研究では、植物の栽培環境における制御指標として環境要因に応じて時々刻々と変化する植物生体電位と植物の生育画像の2種類に着目している。
まず、接触型のモニタリング方法である植物生体電位による生育診断では、植物の内部情報の計測による生育評価を試みる。また、非接触型のモニタリング方法である生育画像による萎れ状態の評価では大量の学習データを使用せずに植物の外観の変化量の推定を試みる。
日々変化していく環境変化や農作物の状態のモニタリングを行うことで、植物の非破壊の計測方法の可能性について検討する。
