Research theme: 3D Graphics Applications
His laboratory has been studying on software architectures especially for the development of 3D graphics applications. Its research purpose is to establish new software architecture that makes it possible to develop various 3D graphics applications without making any textual programs for end-users who have no programming knowledge. Such a development system would drastically reduce the cost of software development process. His research group has already proposed a prototype system which is a component-based 3D graphics software development system. It provides various 3D visual software components and a dynamic construction mechanism that allows users to develop various 3D graphics applications by combining already existing primitive components only through direct manipulations on a computer screen. Application fields of his prototype system include Computer Animation creation, 3D education material creation, Information Visualization, Entertainment system development and so on. At present, he focus on researches about application frameworks of his component-based 3D graphics software development system. Especially, he is interested in Human-Computer Interaction, Virtual Reality Applications and Network Collaborations.
Recently, He is also interested in Development Technologies for Video Games, Data Broadcast Contents and Educational Materials, Visualization Technologies for Learning Activity Data, Presentation Technologies in Museums, and VR(Virtual Reality)/AR(Augmented Reality) applications.

Abstract:
It is thought that if software components have the same 3D visual shape and same behavior as the corresponding object, which actually exists in the real world, programming becomes possible by combining those software components in the same way as if we made something in the real world. In this way, to introduce metaphor of real-world objects into programming makes it possible to increase the software development efficiency. Especially, this study aims to provide such programming environments in which the user can build various 3D application software by his/her body action same as done in the real world. - JSPS, Research for the Future Program:

Abstract:
The members of this research project had been studying software architecture that would allow the user to develop 3D graphics applications only through direct manipulations on a computer screen. Especially, this project tried to develop the technologies that enable multiple users to collaboratively construct 3D virtual space, in which they can do various activities done in the read world, by combining 3D visible, operable objects only through direct manipulations on a computer screen. To clarify the software architecture for such programming environments, this project did experimental research using JGN.
