Outline Activities
Oral implant is an artificial tooth placed in the jaw bone. Implant material requires both excellent mechanical property and histocompatibility. Hydroxyapatite and titanium are supposed to fulfill the requirements. On the contrary, it is not known how these materials obtain the histocompatible property. We have been studying the histocompatibility of these materials, especially protein distribution around the implant. We showed that there was a thin amorphous layer between the bone and the materials and now we analyze the function of this layer. In addition, possibility of accelerating bone formation around the material is also studied. In addition, we have studied the treatment method for medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw.
