Outline Activities
<Research>I am conducting research on computer image processing and recognition. I have studied the problems of motion information detection and reconstruction of 3D depth information by matching multiple images, as well as the extraction of color information and clustering processing using the Fuzzy Hough transform. Recently, we have been studying image quality improvement processing methods, especially image enhancement and high-resolution processing, from various perspectives, and the image quality evaluation methods before and after processing, which are key to such processing, are also a major theme of our research. I am researching processing related to image quality improvement. Such image enlargement and interpolation processing, which is called super-resolution image processing, has become indispensable for TVs, etc., where high-resolution images are rapidly being produced. Last year, we began working on the generation of high-resolution images using machine learning. In particular, as a method to generate clear high-resolution face images from very low-resolution face images, we are researching a method to control the generated images by adding so-called attribute information such as gender, age, and facial expression. The advantage of this method is that it is possible to adjust how the attribute information is applied in a way that is close to human sensation. We are also studying a machine learning method for super-resolution processing of motion images. Compared to super-resolution processing from a single image, we expect to achieve higher resolution with greater precision by using information along the time axis.
I am in charge of teaching courses related to image processing using computers. I educates students on various types of digital image processing backed by theory, referring to analog signal processing and mathematical knowledge. I also teaches programming, which is indispensable for digital image processing, and demonstrates through exercises that digital images can actually be processed by programming based on various theories.

1. Naoki Ono, kiichi urahama, Sharpening Interpolated Image by Using Cube of Pixel Difference and Evaluation in Frequency Domain, Journal of the Institute of Industrial Applications Engineers, Vol.4, No.2, 55-60, 2016.04, In this paper, we propose a sharpening method using cubic operations of the differences of pixel values. Experimental results show that this method produces sharp high resolution image which is more similar than that by any other method to a target image..
