Outline Activities
I am interested in the development of a sustainable national land where the natural environment and human society can coexist in a good relationship, with a focus on the field of river engineering.
In order to establish the methods and technologies necessary for sustainable national land development, I am researching watershed based flood control, river environment restoration, social consensus building, etc. I am also involved in actual river design and environmental studies for the public. I am also involved in the design of actual rivers and environmental education for citizens, while supporting and practicing community development and educational activities.

Educational
Educational Activities
I place particular emphasis on the following perspectives in my educational activities.
(1) The importance of helping each other
In social activities as well as research activities, there is only so much one person can do. Therefore, it is essential to make things work with the help of various people. In my educational activities, I would like to teach that we can achieve very significant results by helping each other through our research activities, such as field surveys and model making, and that we can achieve significant results only with the help of those around us. We aim to develop human resources who have humility and can become leaders who are trusted by those around them.
(2) Cultivation of independent problem-solving skills
In society, people are expected to be able to identify and solve problems on their own. When faced with a problem, the basic attitude is to ask, "What should I do?" Instead of asking others, "What should I do? I believe it is important to have a self-motivated and creative attitude. Our goal is to develop engineers with advanced problem-solving skills who can identify problems, devise their own methods to solve them, and actually solve them. (3) Cultivation of social skills
We hope to develop human resources with sufficient social and cooperative skills by having students proactively participate not only in their own research fields, but also in workshops for nature restoration projects, environmental education for citizens, and other activities.
(4) Cultivating a field-oriented view of things
In the field of civil engineering, it is important to reflect research results in social capital development. To this end, it is necessary to go to the field by oneself and engage in research activities while always thinking about what is required and what the issues are in the field. In field surveys and nature restoration projects, students actively conduct interviews with government officials and local residents involved in the project. Through these activities, we hope that students will acquire a field-oriented view of things.
(5) Contemporary and International Perspectives
In recent years, global-scale problems such as global warming and the destruction of biodiversity have become more prominent, and we must provide solutions to these issues for the next generation, as well as directions and technologies to prevent them from worsening. We believe that a broad perspective that enables us to look at global-scale issues and international communication skills are essential for those who will be active as engineers in the future.
