5. Jin Cheng, Xu Dinghua, Osamu Saeki and Tomoyuki Shirai, Big Data Analysis, AI, Fintech, Math in Finances and Economics, Springer Nature, 2022.01, The two key terminologies, big data analysis and AI, are now indispensable in finances and economics in the world. Thus, without mathematics or statistics, we cannot talk about today’s society. In these circumstances, we organized the conference, Forum “Math-for-Industry” 2018 (FMfI2018), at Fudan University, Shanghai, China, during November 17–21, 2018, for which the unifying theme was “Big Data Analysis, AI, Fintech, Math in Finances and Economics.” We are sure that the theme was very timely and made a big success not only in the industrial mathematics community, but also in industry. This book is the proceedings of the conference and collects together selected papers presented there. The topics covered in the conference are spatial financial risks, foreign exchange markets, option pricing, evolution of copulas, inverse problems connected to financial mathematics, DNN with uncertainty quantification, reinforcement learning, estimation error analysis of deep learning, integration ofAI to agriculture, functional clothing design, application of singularity theory, history of modern mathematics in Vietnam, etc..

OSAMU SAEKI, Ryuei Nishii, Miyuki Koiso, OCHIAI HIROYUKI, Kanzo OKADA, Tomoyuki Shirai, Shingo Saito, Shin-ichiro Ei, A Mathematical Approach to Research Problems of Science and Technology, Springer, 2014.07, In many scientific situations, a given set of large data, obtained through simulation or experiment, can be considered to be a discrete set of sample values of a differentiable map between Euclidean spaces or between manifolds. From such a viewpoint, this article explores how the singularity theory of differentiable maps is useful in the visualization of such data. Special emphasis is put on Reeb graphs for scalar functions and on singular fibers of multi-variate functions..
