Images are enhanced in two steps. The first step is restoration of the hue of colors on the basis of the gray world assumption. This hue restored images are next enhanced with magnifying the contrast of the luminance and the saturation of colors while preserving the hue of colors. Performance of the proposed method is verified for some example images of foggy and underwater photographs..

An Shui Yu, Naoki Ono, Kohei Inoue, Hara Kenji, Kiichi Urahama, Optimal Parameters for Error-Diffusion Halftoning with Bilateral Filter, Journal of the Institute of Industrial Applications Engineers, 6, 4, 144-147, 2018.10, We propose a procedure for determining the parameters in the bilateral filter (BF) used for the errordiffusion halftoning where pixels are scanned in the ascending order of errors. In this halftoning, binarization errors produced at each pixel are diffused using the BF which contains two parameters, one of which is a spatial coefficient and another is for the signal intensity. The optimal values of these two parameters are determined by maximizing the PSNR of an output binary images against their input images. It is shown by experiments that the optimal value of the signal coefficient is slightly negative in contrast to popular usage of BF where the signal coefficient is usually set to a positive value..

The method consists of an interpolation and a sharpening process. We research about some interpolations for producing high resolution images and show the properties of the interpolations in the frequency domain. Based on the research, we selected Lanczos function for the interpolation and applied the sharpening method which uses weighted sum of cubic operations of the pixel differences to the interpolated image. Experimental results also show that the sharpening with Lanczos interpolation gives clear high resolution images..

If the algorithm of the original,i.e. forward filter is explicitly expressed, its inversion is tractable. However, if its algorithm is unknown exactly, it is hard to be reversed. We present, in this paper, a simple solution for this problem only by iterating the forward filter. This method can be used for a wide class of image filters including ones built in photo-retouch softwares. Examples are shown for smoothing, sharpening, halftoning and resizing filters..

An ellipse is specified by nonlinearly constrained parameters, which are difficult to be reflected in a criterion function. We show that iterative processes are useful to solve problems in such a case, and propose an iterative procedure to fit an ellipse to a set of points. In the procedure the nonlinear constraints on parameters are represented by a properly defined nonlinear operator. Experimental results on personal computer indicate the effectiveness of the procedure..
