Masamichi Kohno, Yasuyuki Takata, Yuki FUKATANI, Yutaku KITA, OREJON DANIEL, Khellil SEFIANE, Jungho KIM, Effect of thermal pattern on evaporation distribution during droplet evaporation, EMN Meeting on Droplets, 2015.05, In this work effect of ambient humidity of water vapor on evaporation of sessile drops of ethanol and methanol on a copper substrate is experimentally investigated. Experiments are conducted in a temperature and humidity controlled environmental chamber. An infrared (IR) camera and CCD camera are used to measure thermal distributions and profile change of the evaporating droplet, respectively.Results show that average temperature at the liquid–vapor interface increases when increasing relative humidity. Furthermore, evaporation rate decreases with relative humidity. A residual liquid is observed after ethanol/methanol evaporation, which is considered to be water adsorbed from the ambience into the droplet..
